They had (and still have) a cult following and they have produced eleven studio albums, notably 'One Eyed Jacks' and 'World Service'. They still tour today and the studio album, Loadestone, has been very well received. It includes a remarkable cover of the Joy Division track, Transmission.

The Traveller
Spear of Destiny Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Eu me sinto enganado, sozinho e culpado
Por não conseguir te encontrar
Fiquei no meio de um blackout
Levei um "out"
Fugi sem sair do lugar (blackout)
The lyrics of Spear of Destiny's song 'The Traveller' convey a sense of desperation and frustration as the singer searches for someone or something in the dark, cold streets of the city. The opening lines "Ta tudo escuro, Não enxergo nada" (It's all dark, I can't see anything) set the scene for the rest of the song. The more the singer searches, the less he can see, and the more he feels lost and disoriented. The lyrics speak of wandering through alleys, palaces, and slums, trying to find this elusive person or thing that he desires. The use of various settings and locations creates an image of a vast, complex cityscape that is both beautiful and dangerous.
The chorus of the song includes the line "Nem a luz oscilante da lua minguante consegue iluminar" (Not even the flickering light of the waning moon can illuminate), which illustrates the sense of hopelessness and futility that the singer feels. He is trying his best to find what he is looking for, but it seems as though everything is working against him, even the natural light of the moon. The imagery of the "blackout" at the end of the song reinforces this feeling of being lost and trapped - the singer is unable to move forward, and can only "flee without leaving the place".
Overall, 'The Traveller' is a haunting and evocative song that captures the sense of being lost, alone, and searching for something that may or may not exist.
