The Truth
Speckmann Project Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Mannequin, Mannequin
They're all the same
Plastic faces
Plastic faces
Society's to blame

Open your eyes
Clear your fuckin' mind
Remove that disguise
Deep in your mind

Replicas of today's world
Comercially programmed
Plastic faces
Plastic faces
Society's to blame

Posing bodies
Unclear minds

Posing bodies
Society's crimes

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Speckmann Project’s song “The Truth” seem to be a direct commentary on the superficiality of society. The repeated phrase “Mannequin, Mannequin / They’re all the same / Plastic faces / Plastic faces / Society’s to blame” suggests that people are conforming to societal standards of beauty and behavior, resulting in a lack of individuality. The singer urges the listener to “Open your eyes / Clear your fuckin’ mind / Remove that disguise / Deep in your mind,” presumably to see past the surface-level appearances of others and strive for authenticity.

The next two stanzas continue this theme of programmed behavior and superficiality, with the repetition of “Plastic faces / Society’s to blame.” The use of the word “replicas” suggests that people are not truly being themselves, but rather copying what they see around them. The final two lines, “Posing bodies / Society’s crimes” add a sense of condemnation to the critique – not only are people superficial, but by conforming to societal norms, they are complicit in something negative.

Overall, “The Truth” seems to be a call for listeners to think critically about their own behavior and the ways in which they are influenced by society. It is a warning against blindly conforming to societal standards without questioning whether they align with one’s personal values and desires.

My favorite Paul Speckmann album!! I love the Master, Abomination, and DeathStrike material also but this album just leaves me decapitated!! Got to see Master twice since 2015 (had Paul sign my Deathstrike cd!!).

Al O'Veira

Paul is a very gracious dude. I saw Master once on the Vindictive Miscreant tour and they killed it--despite all kinds of technical difficulties. I hope he tours the states again soon.
