Someone Like You
Spike Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
How come you do me like you do?
Why do you try to make me feel so blue?
I've done nothing to you.
Do me right or else just let me be.
'Cause I can beat you doing what you're doing to me.
How come you do me like you do do do?
How come you do me like you do?
In Spike's song Someone Like You, the lyrics indicate frustration and confusion about being treated poorly by someone for seemingly no reason. The lyrics start with a repetition of "How come you do me like you do do do?" which suggests that the singer cannot understand why they are being treated badly. The next line, "Why do you try to make me feel so blue?" continues to express frustration and anger towards the person treating them poorly. The following line "I've done nothing to you" reinforces the idea that the singer is innocent and should not be treated poorly.
The second verse of the song suggests that the singer is unwilling to continue being treated badly. "Do me right or else just let me be" expresses a desire for equal and respectful treatment, and the line "'Cause I can beat you doing what you're doing to me" suggests a sense of strength and autonomy, as if the singer is able to do better than the person who is treating them poorly. The final repetition of "How come you do me like you do do do?" could be interpreted as a plea for an explanation or understanding from the person causing them harm.
Overall, the lyrics to Spike's Someone Like You convey a sense of frustration, confusion, and a desire for equal and respectful treatment.
