Spot Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Lots of friends are left unknown
Saving myself from reality that makes my whole world so small
And holds me within
If I reach the end of the world shall I be safe
From this apathy bringing me down
Life in a grave
I was headed for success
But I wanted to make it real
This feeling in my chest bringing me down
I'm losing my self-confidence
As I'm trying to get all my thoughts
Back in my head
Fighting my doubts late night in bed
Nothing could change if I run from here I'll always be the same
Admitting defeat
I will never betray my believes again
The song in my heart still bringing me faith in the cause
A tiny part of the plan
Take the path that brings me back
My dear friends, here I am coming home
Just before making one step outdoor
Taking that trip back in my mind
The lyrics of Spot's song "Return" capture a sense of displacement and inner turmoil as the singer packs their bags and prepares to leave behind a familiar life. The opening lines express a feeling of detachment from friends and a desire to escape the confines of a reality that feels suffocatingly small and restrictive. The mention of saving oneself hints at a need for a fresh start away from the constraints that have held them back.
In the next stanza, there is a contemplation of whether reaching the end of the world would provide safety from the emotional numbness and weariness that has taken hold. The imagery of life feeling like a grave highlights the heaviness and stagnation the singer feels. Despite this, there is a glimmer of hope as they acknowledge that taking even a few small steps forward can lead to a new beginning.
The following verse delves into the internal struggle of the singer, who had been on a path to success but seeks a deeper, more authentic experience. The feeling in their chest weighs them down, leading to a loss of self-confidence and a battle with doubts that plague them late into the night. The realization that running away will not solve their underlying issues leads to a moment of acceptance and humility in admitting defeat.
The final stanza brings a sense of resolution as the singer decides not to betray their beliefs again and finds solace in the song in their heart that still inspires faith in their purpose. They acknowledge that every step, no matter how small, plays a part in the larger plan of returning home to where their journey began. The imagery of taking a mental trip back before physically embarking on a new chapter evokes a reflective and introspective moment of readiness for the next phase of the singer's life journey.
