But while Sprung Monkey made their name in surf, skate, and snowboard flicks, they earned their reputation on the road. Tours with Blink 182 and the Offspring and slots on the Van's Warped Tour and ESPN's X-Games introduced loads of fans to this kick-ass So Cal band, and 6 Australian tours (so far) made them a worldwide phenomenon (or Angus Young's love children, at least).
Which brings us to the reason we're here: "Get A Taste". Sprung Monkey's newest CD combines the raw energy of "Swirl" and "Mr. Funny Face" with the experience and inspiration of a band that's been through it all. With previous discs selling in the hundreds of thousands, Sprung Monkey takes things to the next level--"Get a Taste" has more hooks than a meat locker and more attitude than Johnny Knoxville's jock strap.
Sprung Monkey 2002, but reformed in 2005.

A world was thrown before my eyes
Now paint a picture, crayon stick figures
With blue haired people, purple skies-
Swirl
With acclimation, comes deep resentment
I'm forced in a structure I can only oblige
Choose my victims, draw my lines
Formed in liquid, pushed out still dripping
A world was thrown before my eyes
Paint a picture, crayon stick figures
With blue haired people, purple skies
Can this be the end that I've forseeen
A glass thats half full is half empty
Formed in liquid, pushed out still dripping
A world was thrown before my eyes
Paint a picture, crayon stick figures
With blue haired people, purple skies
Take a piece of me
Take a piece of me
Take a piece of me and watch me bleed
Take a piece of me
Take a piece of me
Take a piece of me if it's what you need
The lyrics to Sprung Monkey's song "Swirl" bring to mind themes of birth, growth, and change. The opening lines, "Formed in liquid, pushed out still dripping / A world was thrown before my eyes," set the stage for an exploration of the journey we all take from our earliest beginnings. The reference to "crayon stick figures" and "blue haired people, purple skies" suggests an imaginative, playful approach to interpreting the world around us.
As the song progresses, the lyrics turn towards darker territory, with the lines "With acclimation, comes deep resentment / I'm forced in a structure I can only oblige / Integral turmoil, It's time to decide / Choose my victims, draw my lines." Here, the singer seems to be grappling with the pressures of conforming to societal norms, and the internal conflicts that can arise from this struggle. The references to "victims" and "lines" suggest a sense of powerlessness or aggression, perhaps reflecting the frustration of feeling trapped in a world that doesn't always make sense.
Despite this sense of struggle, the song ends on a more hopeful note with the lines "Can this be the end that I've foreseen / A glass that's half full is half empty." Here, the singer seems to be embracing a more optimistic outlook, recognizing that one's perspective can greatly influence their experience of the world.
Overall, "Swirl" is a song that explores the complexities of our early experiences and how they shape us as we grow and change. It touches on themes of imagination, conformity, and personal growth, making it a thought-provoking piece that invites interpretation and reflection.
