Walk Away
St. Kelly Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You've got your mother and your brother
Every other undercover
Tellin' you what to say
You think I'm stupid
But the truth is
That it's cupid, baby
Lovin' you has made me this way
So before you point your finger
Get your hands off of my trigger
Oh yeah
You need to know this situation's getting old
And now the more you talk
The less I can say, oh

I'm looking for attention
Not another question
Should you stay or should you go?
Well, if you don't have the answer
Why you still standin' here?
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Just walk away
Just walk away
Just walk away

I waited here for you
Like a kid waiting after school
So tell me how come you never showed?
I gave you everything
And never asked for anything
And look at me
I'm all alone
So, before you start defendin'
Baby, stop all your pretendin'
I know you know I know
So what's the point in being slow?
Let's get the show on the road today
Hey

I'm looking for attention
Not another question
Should you stay or should you go?
Well, if you don't have the answer
Why you still standin' here?
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Just walk away
Just walk away
Just walk away

I want to love
I want a fire
To feel the burn
My desires
I want a man by my side
Not a boy who runs and hides
Are you gonna fight for me?
Die for me?
Live and breathe for me?
Do you care for me?
'Cause if you don't, then just leave

I'm looking for attention
Not another question
Should you stay or should you go?
Well, if you don't have the answer
Why you still standin' here?
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Just walk away

If you don't have the answer
Walk away
Just walk away
Just walk away
Then just leave
Yeah, yeah
Walk away

Overall Meaning

In St. Kelly's song "Walk Away," the singer is addressing a person who is indecisive about their relationship. The singer accuses the other person of being manipulated by their family and friends, who are telling them what to say and do. The singer asserts that their love has caused them to be this way, but the situation has become old and frustrating. The singer explains that they are looking for attention and not another question about whether or not they should stay or go. The singer encourages the other person to walk away if they do not have an answer.

The singer then goes on to express their desire for a man, not a boy, by their side. They want someone who will fight for them, die for them, live and breathe for them, and care for them. The singer concludes by repeating the refrain, "Just walk away," emphasizing the need for the other person to make a decision and take action.

The lyrics of "Walk Away" highlight the frustration and emotional pain that can come with indecisiveness and lack of commitment in a relationship. The singer is tired of waiting and wondering, and just wants a clear answer from their partner.

This is literally the most underrated Kelly Clarkson song.

@beverlyreese6390

Best pick me up, f*ck you aholez, I f**king ROCK!, song ever!❤❤✌✌ Plus, I have a serious crush in the guy in the car. And everyone in the video killed it with their moves! 😁😁😂😂✌✌

@anthonyortiz7570

I would say, the undervalued single is Dark Side

@kriskayn2024

@Aabruh that’s only two years before YouTube started. Not enough time to get those extra views, and it wasn’t the kind of site to post music videos anyway. Just for hilariously dumb videos for the most part.

Not to mention that it wasn’t mainstream for most artists to really use YouTube as a promotional tool for videos and singles until 2007 the earliest. Only artists who were desperate to get their music out there would and sometimes, it would work. Even then, MySpace was still the place to promote your music.

This would’ve had at least 20 million more views if those two years made the difference. Kelly’s most successful brand of music is the kind that can still be played over and over again on the radio. It’s why some stations won’t play this track but still play My Life Would Suck Without You 😂😂

@redmigacha

No lie, but in my opinion, her most underrated single (from the 2000s) has got to be Low or every single from My December (except Never Again)

@markcheetah4960

Any song deemed good enough by the record company to issue an official music video for is not underrated.
