Bridge
St. Somewhere Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don Annix! The real hip hop! The real hip hop
They not ready for this! this the real hip hop! St. George
Uh!! Walk across the bridge but don't burn it
If you win go ahead talk your sh*t cause you earned it
Wasnt born with knowledge, everything i know i learned it
Tried some things didnt fit took it off returned it
I ain't into that so i gave it right back
I heard of sing for your supper but they making me rap
I'm up and these motherf*ckers still taking a nap
I'm racing the track! Increase my pace every lap
I'm running away! You cant see me facing my back
I know you amazed at the fact that you facing the facts
Thought karma wouldn't return it made its way back
Junk food in these streets you get ate for a snack
Too slow! I'm in an uber while you wait for a cab
But if it get too crazy then im making a dash
Like a test tube baby that they made in the lab
They "build" (billed) me I'm hot as acid they gave me the tab
We going dutch, you balling my free throw is clutch
Quiet the crowd, the loud noise cease to a hush
You slaves im making waves you need you a brush
I dealed you the stuff when it was illegal to puff
Deal me the cards, the odds is im reading your bluff
Honestly you probably haven't been reading enough

Lit the match on the stove, I'm just heating it up
Feeding you lunch at dinner and you eating it up

Overall Meaning

The song "Bridge" by St. Somewhere is a rap song that highlights the importance of perseverance, hard work and the experience gained through life. The verse starts with a call to attention, proclaiming "The real hip hop! The real hip hop." The rapper then urges the listener to not burn bridges, to walk across them instead. This implies the importance of maintaining relationships and keeping doors open, even when one succeeds.

The lyricist then mentions that he wasn't born with knowledge; all he knows he has learned through life. Trying things and failing at them is just part of the process, but learning from them is what makes individuals achieve true growth. With a "tried-some-didn't-fit" attitude, he returns what he perceives to be a poor fit and walks away from questionable influences. He expresses his reluctance to follow the crowd, instead emphasizing his individuality and control over his destiny.

The rapper then speaks about hustling, implying how he has worked hard to gain success. He believes that one should be vocal about their achievements only after earning them. He then speaks about his talents and how his peers question the validity of his career, hence saying that they are "still taking a nap," not cooperating with the level of his hustle. He also mentions karma, saying that it always returns what was given out. Finally, he takes a jab at those who do not understand the pace of life, implying that they will fall short in the hustling game.

As one broken human being to another, I will tell you this: I tried to end it all once, during my late teens; my life was out of control, and I harbored no hope for the future. I came to a point where I believed that Life had no meaning or purpose, and I had lost all hope -- so, I sat down, wrote a letter to my mother, and I overdosed on some lethal drug I had gotten off the street.

By the time I was 'discovered' a few hours later ( barely breathing ), I was pronounced DOA by the time they got me to the Hospital.
I wont go into WHAT I experienced and what I SAW and FELT during my death experience because it would end up being a book, so I will spare you the details; however --- what I would like to share with you is this: We DONT DIE.
The SOUL is eternal ; once the Soul exits or releases ITSELF from the BODY, it FREES "itself" and is LIBERATED.

All the Soul takes with it on this new journey are : the KNOWLEDGE 'it' ( you ) have acquired during this lifetime, and --- the EXPERIENCES 'it' ( you ) have lived and 'learned' from.

When one considers DEATH, and along with it a Heaven and a Hell --- my personal experience is that :
HEAVEN, is a place you go, to spend Eternity with what you LOVE most: YOURSELF.
and......

HELL, is a place you go, to spend Eternity with what you HATE most: YOURSELF.

Stop considering on ending your life, because this END will come when you least expect it --- but instead, try to LIVE your life with purpose, and do what you like and makes you HAPPY --- and in between : try to learn as much as you can before you arrive at the end of the road.
And again I will say : there is no END.
DEATH is just an exit from this existence into another existence, which we create here and now, through our thoughts, our words, and our actions.

Wishing you all the very best across the miles, and sending you this. Enjoy🙂👇

@MrVerde-lt3qs

Been travelling these wide roads for so long
My heart's been far from you
Ten thousand miles gone
Oh, I want to come near and give you
Every part of me
But there is blood on my hands
And my lips are unclean
In my darkness I remember
Momma's words reoccur to me:
"Surrender to the good Lord
And he'll wipe your slate clean"
Take me to your river
I want to go
I'll go
Take me to your river
I want to know
Dip me in your smooth waters
I'll go in
As a man with many crimes
Come up for air
As my sins flow down the Jordan
Oh, I want to come near and give you
Every part of me
But there is blood on my hands
And my lips are unclean
Take me to your river
I want to go
Oh, I go
Take me to your river
I want to know
I want to go want to go want to go
I want to know want to know want to know
(bis)
Take me to your river
I want to go
Lord please let me know
Take me to your river
I want to know

Maybe they were weak for not recognizing their feelings for long time, and finally found strength to feel, understand and accept them. It takes courage to look deep inside you and feel your soul..
