Walk With Me
St. Thomas Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I think I can be safe
The stars that are
Over our heads
Seem to be staring
As long as I walk alone
I will always be afraid
So why can't you
And walk with me
Take care of me
I can't be alone longer
Come take my hand
I dare not see
With my eye
As long as I walk with you
I think I can be safe
The stars that are
Over our heads
Seem to be staring
Take care of me
I can't be alone longer
Come take my hand
I dare not see
With my eye
Take care of me
I can't be alone longer
Come take my hand
I dare not see
With my eye
The lyrics to St. Thomas's song "Walk With Me" speak to themes of vulnerability, fear, and the desire for companionship. The singer expresses a sense of safety and security when walking with someone else, suggesting that being with another person provides a sense of protection. The stars overhead are depicted as watching over the singer and their companion, almost as if they are witnessing their connection.
However, the singer also reveals a fear of walking alone. They profess to always being afraid when they are by themselves, and they implore the person they are addressing to be kind and accompany them. The repetition of the line "Take care of me, I can't be alone longer" emphasizes the singer's need for another person's presence to alleviate their fear and provide comfort and reassurance.
The final lines of the song mirror the sentiment expressed earlier, highlighting the singer's reliance on the other person. They once again beg for the person to take their hand, suggesting that physical contact and a shared journey are essential for them to navigate life without fear. The repetition of the line "I dare not see with my eye" adds a layer of mystery and suggests that the singer may be avoiding facing their fears directly, relying on the presence of another to shield them.
Overall, "Walk With Me" captures the vulnerability and yearning for connection that many individuals experience. It speaks to the power of companionship and how the presence of another person can provide a sense of safety and ease fears.
