He started his music career in 1979 as a member of the group Boulder, which released an album on Elektra that year. Going solo with a deal with Columbia, Bush released his self-titled debut in 1983. Similar to 80s contemporaries such as Eddie Money and Rick Springfield, he had an energetic rock sound with a heavy emphasis on crunchy guitar riffs.
Putting together a backing band called 'Barrage' featuring guitarist Don Kirkpatrick, keyboardist Rick Serrate, bassist Mike Seifrit, and drummer Jack White, Bush's next album brought him cult stardom. The 1987 release featured "The Touch", a track created for the Transformers movie that numerous fans of the franchise have loved.
Other notable work includes the song "Fight for Love" from the movie 'Kickboxer' as well as the theme from 'Bloodsport', titled "Fight to Survive". Both movies starred actor and athlete Jean-Claude Van Damme.

That Summer Night Had Just Begun
At Seventeen We Were Caugh In A Fire
Right Between Youth And Desire
I Saw The Wildness In Your Eyes
No Holding Back, No Compromise
There In The Back Seat Of My Car
We Lost Control, Yeah We Went Too Far
We Felt The Thunder, We Both knew A Storm Was Gonna Start
Total Surrender Of The Heart
Total Surrender
There Was No Turnin' Back That Night
There Was No Wrong Or Right
Total Surrender In The Dark
We Lost Our Innocence That Night
But We Held On Until The Light
Venturing Out In The Seas Unknown
We Gave In To Our Own Free Will
Couldn't Stop We Were On Our Own
And Just For A Moment Time Stood Still
Now I Dream About Your Touch
We Found New Worlds, YeaH We Found So Much
What I Wouldn't Give To Hold You In My Arms Again
All Of My Life, Girl You're The Best There's Ever Been
Ooh
Total Surrender In The Dark
There Was No Turnin' Back That Night
Total Surrender Of The Heart
There Was No Wrong Or Right
Total Surrender In The Dark
Total Surrender
Total Surrender In The Dark
There Was No Turnin' Back That Night
There Was No Turnin' Back That Night
No Wrong Or Right
Total Surrender Of The Heart
Total Surrender In The Dark
No Turnin' Back That Night
Total Surrender Of The Heart
There Was No Wrong Or Right
Total Surrender

Total Surrender
The lyrics of “Total Surrender” by Stan Bush depict a nostalgic love story of two young people who got caught up in the moment and had a passionate encounter. The first verse alludes to a summer night when they were just teenagers and felt the attraction and desire towards each other. The lyrics suggest that they let go of their inhibitions and gave in to their passions, without any regard for the consequences. The chorus repeats the phrase “Total Surrender”, which signifies that they were completely consumed by their emotions, and there was no turning back.
The second verse of the lyrics describes how both individuals lost their innocence that night but held onto each other until the dawn. They ventured into the unknown, giving in to their own free will, and for a moment, time stood still. The lyrics portray a yearning desire for the person as the singer dreams about their touch, even after all these years. In the end, the lyrics suggest that the love they shared was intense and profound, and the singer wishes they could hold the person in their arms again.
Overall, the song’s lyrics depict a bittersweet love story that was both passionate and all-consuming. It speaks of a moment in time when two people found each other and lost themselves in the moment, without caring about the consequences of their actions. The song’s lyrics are a testament to the power of love and how it can change lives and feelings forever.
