Wavelength
Stand Atlantic Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I know I've always said I'm not a saint
So I'm gonna push you to the floor
You keep selfishly just digging 'til my nervous system is sore

Yeah, chewing on peppermint gum
Won't hide your broken teeth, black tongue
Sweeping ugly statements
I'm just killing all my feelings, I'm done

I'm tripping on your wavelength
Better than a way out of this
Wanna slip under your radar, unscarred
To see you reap what you have sewn
(Tripping on your)
(Tripping on your
(Tripping on your)

Got a little sense of vertigo
Spinning, seeing monochrome (I'm, I'm tripping on your)
Bored of falling short for you
Surrounding me just like a bad view

I'm tripping on your wavelength
Better than a way out of this
Wanna slip under your radar, unscarred
To see you reap what you have sewn
(Tripping on your)

I know I've always said I'm not a saint
So I'm gonna push you through the floor

(I'm tripping on your wavelength)
Better than a way out of this
Wanna slip under your radar, unscarred
To see you reap what you have sewn
I'm tripping on your wavelength
Better than a way out of this
Wanna slip under your radar, unscarred
To see you reap what you have sewn
(Tripping on your)

(Tripping on your wavelength)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Stand Atlantic's song "Wavelength" convey a sense of frustration and betrayal in a relationship. The singer admits to not being a perfect person ("I know I've always said I'm not a saint") and expresses a desire to push their partner away ("So I'm gonna push you to the floor") because they have been hurt in the past. The partner's actions are described as selfish and painful ("You keep selfishly just digging 'til my nervous system is sore"), with their attempts to cover up their flaws only highlighting them further ("Yeah, chewing on peppermint gum/ Won't hide your broken teeth, black tongue").

Despite this, the singer still finds themselves attracted to their partner ("I'm tripping on your wavelength") and sees being involved with them as preferable to being alone ("Better than a way out of this"). They want to stay unnoticed by their partner ("Wanna slip under your radar, unscarred") and see them face the consequences of their actions ("To see you reap what you have sewn"). The repetition of "tripping on your wavelength" and the distorted vocals in the chorus give the song an almost hypnotic quality, emphasizing the singer's inability to fully break away from their partner.
