You were the best I ever had
I let you down in the worst way
It hurts me every single day
I'm dying to let you know
Now I'm here to say I'm sorry
And ask for a second chance
I could sure use a friend
So many things I would take back
You were the best I ever had
I don't blame you for hating me
I didn't mean to make you leave
You and I were living like a love song
I feel so bad, I feel so bad that you're gone
Now I know you're the only one that I want
I want you back, I want you
Now I'm here to say I'm sorry
And ask for a second chance
'Cause when it all comes down to the end
I could sure use a friend
Now I'm here to say I'm sorry
And ask for a second chance
All I want to do is make it up to you
Cause when it all comes down to the end
You were the best I ever had
We fell in love for a reason
Now you're leaving
And I just want you back
So many things we believed in
Now you're leaving and words won't bring you back
I'll never let go of the heart I broke
You and I were living like a love song
Now I know you're the only one that I want
I want you back, I want you
Now I'm here to say I'm sorry
And ask for a second chance
All I want to do is make it up to you
'Cause when it all comes down to the end
I could sure use a friend
Now I'm here to say I'm sorry
And ask for a second chance
All I want to do is make it up to you
'Cause when it all comes down to the end
You were the best I ever had
I can't believe that I threw away all our dreams
I can't believe now that you're gone how much you mean to me
I feel so bad, I feel so bad
You were the best I ever had
I can't believe that I threw away all our dreams
I can't believe now that you're gone how much you mean to me
I feel so bad, I feel so bad
You were,
You were the best I ever had
The lyrics of "Best I Ever Had" by State Of Shock depict a man who realizes his mistakes and regrets losing the best relationship he's ever had. He acknowledges that he made a mistake and let down his partner in the worst way. The pain of not having her in his life takes an emotional toll on him every day. He is "dying to let her know" that he still feels strongly for her and wants to apologize and ask for another chance.
In the chorus, he admits to wanting her back and saying sorry for the pain he caused. He speaks of wishing he could take back many things and knows that she must hate him because of his mistakes. He confesses that he wants to make it up to her and hopes for a second chance to show that he can be a better partner.
The lyrics paint a picture of regret and the desire to make amends. The song is an emotional outpouring of a man who knows he made mistakes and is willing to do anything to make things right. It is a common theme in many love songs, but the songwriter has done an excellent job of expressing this emotion without being cliche.

It' so hard in this world full of turmoil to know if you made the right decision. It may have seemed right it at the time, but looking back do you regret it? Did you let your soulmate leave, or is there someone else that you are better off with? I hate leaving my future in the hands of fate. Was he the best i'll ever have or am I just stuck in the past, scared to look foreward into the future? This song is absolutely perfect to describe many of us that are stuck with these thoughts. Love it!

This is an awesome and emotionally charged song as well as a pretty gut-wrenching and sad video. One observation that has nothing whatsoever to do with anything emotional (sort of). That slow-motion water-soaked cymbal hit at 2:47-48 is pretty effen cool! Adding rain to a video can either work for you or screw the whole thing up and you all ROCKED IT! Thumbs-up to the Production Staff and Editors. PHENOMENAL JOB!! ;)
