Bad News
Static-P Lyrics

Lies! lies!

I'm not listening I don't wanna hear it
Something's missing where are the solutions?

You're full of fear you love it you need it
I plug my ears but the sheep repeat it
I can't hear a word you're saying
Broken records just keep playing loud

You're fire!
We're sick we're so tired of all the bad news
We're sick and tired of you and your

Lies! lies!

I'm not listening I don't wanna hear it
Gimme a break now! gimme a solution
Fear porn yea you love it you need it
But now I'm bored the sheep follow the leader

I can't hear a word you're saying
Broken records just keep playing loud

You're fired!

Round and round you go
With nothing to show
Waiting alone in fear

But I'm not afraid no!

Why won't you just believe in yourself?

We're so sick and tired of your damn lies!

I'm not listening no I don't wanna hear it
Tell me the truth... now! gimme a solution
Fear porn...yea you love it you need it
But now I'm bored the sheep follow the leader

You're fired!

Won't you just believe in yourself?

Overall Meaning

The song "Bad News" by Static-P is a critique of media sensationalism and fear-mongering. The opening lines make it clear that the singer is not interested in listening to the constant stream of negativity and hopelessness pushed by the media. The line "something's missing, where are the solutions?" suggests that the singer is frustrated with the lack of constructive ideas or practical solutions offered for the problems being reported.

The repeated use of the phrase "you're fired" throughout the song gives the impression that the singer is angry and fed up with the fear and lies being spread. The line "why won't you just believe in yourself?" seems to suggest that the media and those perpetuating fear are lacking self-confidence and resorting to these tactics to keep people engaged.

The chorus of "Bad News" emphasizes the singer's desire for a break from the constant negativity and a true solution to the problems facing society. The use of the word "sheep" to describe those who mindlessly follow the fear-mongering is a common trope in critiques of media sensationalism.

Overall, "Bad News" conveys a frustration with the lack of constructive dialogue and practical solutions in the media and society at large.

I think the teacher would be the ideal suspect... and that’s what worries me. A lot of arrows are pointing at him. Almost too many to be legitimate, you know?

Seriously, in Idol Bombing, one of his only solo lines is, “I was there when it happened. No one saw it get planted.” LIKE COME ON, “I WAS THERE”... “NO ONE SAW”- SERIOUSLY DUDE COME ON... That’s so suspicious! I can’t even-

Then there’s the fact that he happens to be friends with a detective and is an inventor, which makes it look as if he easily had the talent to create a bomb and the thought to “coincidentally” invite a detective to end up framing Star Blush...

This all adds up. Too much. Which makes me think it’s deeper than that. Someone that’s no so easily a suspect. I think the teacher (isn’t his name Kanezaki? I always mess it up) is a red herring, and he’s MEANT to be found guilty.

Your theory actually makes perfect sense tbh, I’m not trying to crush it, I’m just saying that the fact that it’s so perfect makes me want to read between the lines and wonder if Static-P intentionally made it seem that way. But maybe I’m overthinking and you’re right, lol. Good thinking! I didn’t connect him to this song until I read your comment.

@Destroy6168

Thank you again static for this new song!!!! Like always it's a banger. (I was a little scared by the name tho, ngl)
Theory time everybody!!

So I was right. Nori like to pic the "underdogs", the not so popular groups and push them to the top. He want to stop the rigged competitions. This open a new part of the story : the bomb wasn't for any of the idols groups. It was directed at Nori. That's why it was in SBG's bagpack. Someone sent a message to Nori that way, SBG's being the idol group he put his money in. It could still be Morime but with this video I'm not so sure anymore.
The only thing I didn't really understand is if Hareka was the only one who know about the rigged competition or if it was all the group.
Sorry if I made grammar mistakes, I'm French ^^".

Thank you again Static-P, you and everyone that's helping you are GENIUSES. I really hope one day to be able to see you on stage this would be awesome!!!

@martinuz64

DAY 22 of reviewing every STATIC-P song!

I sadly forgot once again to write one of these, but decided to write two in one day to compensate ^—^

The box has made an apparition! This song is 10x better because of it!

Other than that masterful move, the vocals are as good as ever, although the chorus does feel too toned down for its own good. I can tell that it really isn’t, but it’s still the feel I’m getting.

The video is gorgeous, and the introduction of Nori is grrrrreat. This story really needed a sort of secretive character, and Nori fits it perfectly. Also, this subplot really adds to the story as a whole.

I give this song a: 🎈 out of 10

@sophiaredwood5825

I’m not kidding. The second this notification popped up after a year since I’ve joined the channel and waited, I actually burst into tears. I cried. And no shame. I’m so excited.

Also, NORI?! THE HECK DUDE?! YOU... YOU SHADY- WHY?! I was SURE I’d love you when I saw you in a song finally! But no! Ughhhh...

Excuse me as I go and replay this song a billion times and try to memorize it and find hidden secrets in the animation. Static, thank you so much for another masterpiece. ❤️

Edit: Okay, now I’m confused. Is Nori bad or good? I’m confused at his actual intentions. Is he trying to help or is he just rigging up all the works? He tells her to fight it, but then... my gosh why am I so lost wHaT

Edit 2: okay I listened again twice and so I’m drawing the conclusion that Nori isn’t the bad guy here, but the people he works with. He wants to work with Hareka to do... something? And approves of her intentions?

Gosh, why is my mind so slow?

Did Hareka possibly plant the bomb later out of anger because it was all a lie? Or did another team get upset because they found out that it all wasn’t real? When Nori said, ‘help me fight it’ was that his code for setting the bomb? What does this song do to affect the bigger picture? Oh gosh someone if you finish my whole convoluted monologue God bless you and please help me out somehow?

Edit 3: Okay, sorry, this is my last edit. I just thought of something else. It says Nori approached “them” so does that mean that all four Star Blush Girls knew about Nori’s intentions? Or did he only let Hareka in on all of it? If only her, why? And lastly- WHY is she only letting Detective in on this NOW? (I mean, the songs needed an order and all that, but did she intentionally wait?)

Okay. I’m out. Lol.

@sophiaredwood5825

Brian McHaney you’re not wrong!

Here’s something I realized, I’ll let this through to you...

I found it in the midst of a comment thread. It was seemingly not noticed by Static-P at all. Someone put something, and a LOT of people replied. But down a bunch of comments... and comments... and more... one reply stood out. Someone asked something to the effect of, “I’m still wondering why the criminals let the detective go at the beginning of the series.” And out of NOWHERE, Static-P replied to him directly and said, “Good question.”

He hadn’t replied anything to anyone else. Just that one guy. Ya see, I think he read everyone else’s theories but THAT QUESTION was a gem that had some sort of special meaning, so he gave a subtle hint be replying.

That’s the biggest clue I have for now.

This literally made my night. As a perfectionist with high social and performance anxiety, grades, people's opinions, and how well I do at anything presented to the public are really essential to my self-esteem and confidence. But I really love what Hareka says here. She's not going to let other people put a value on her performance, or affect how she views herself. She knows the work she's put into this, and she isn't going to let the opinions of other people belittle that effort and experience. I think that's a really awesome mindset to have. Thank you so much Static for always making motivational and uplifting content. It always makes my day when you upload!

Btw, before I saw this video I was super anxious because I'm going to take my driver's test tomorrow, but now I'm like, "I don't need some stranger telling me what my score is...'cause their scores will never change who I am and what I've put in!"

@StaticP

You got this!! And if you fail, oh well. You can try again. =)
