Little Girl
Steve Alaimo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Every time my baby and I have a quarrel
I swear I won't give in
Then my baby starts to smile at me
And I know, I know I just can't win

When my little girl is smiling
There's nothing more I can say
I see those big bright eyes
And then I realize
That girl is gonna get her way

When my little girl is smiling
I can't stay mad at her for long
Why should I want to fight
When I can hold her tight
I just don't care who's right or wrong

When my little girl is smiling
It's the greatest thrill there can be
She gets her way it's true

But I know I won't be blue
As long as she just smiles for me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Steve Alaimo's song "Little Girl" suggest a power dynamic between the singer and his love interest. Every time they have a quarrel, he tries to resist giving in to her, but when she smiles at him, he realizes that he can't win. BRONXGIRL10

I remember Steve Alaimo as one of the regulars on "Where the Action Is"!!!

BRONXGIRL10

It came on right after the first (and I think only) teen soap opera, "Never Too Young" on ABC. I watched both after school every day, starting at 3 p.m. New York time! Paul Revere and the Raiders and Keith Allison were also regulars on the show. And, yes, it was another Dick Clark production.

I bought this beauty on the flip side of Every Day I Have To Cry here in the UK on Pye International - 7N.25174. in 1962. I still have it and play it regularly although I've only played the A side a couple of times in over 50 years LOL!
