Wolves
Stevie McCrorie Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I slipped into the moon and saw a different world
The sea was green and the land was blue
Oh, I never knew
This could be possible
I jumped into a space
And tried to grab a star
And gravity it pushed me out
And oh I never knew, this could be possible

So I so I say track these wolves
Bring us down in this worn out world
So I look down on this world
We never looked so small
So I look down to the future
We never knew could grow so tall
So I look down
So I look down
So I look down in this world
We never knew we could grow so tall

I slipped into a dream and saw a different world
My mind was clear and my hopes were high
Oh I never knew this could be possible
I slipped into a place where everyone was high
And I knew that this feeling would never die
Oh I never knew this could be possible

So I so I say track these wolves
Bring us down in this worn out world
So I look down on this world
We never looked so small
I look down to the future
We never knew could grow so tall
So I look down
So I look down
So I look down on this world
We never knew we could grow so tall

I slipped into the moon
Saw a different world
The sea was green and the land was blue
Oh I never knew this could be possible
I jumped into a space and tried to grab a star
And gravity it pushed me out oh I never knew
Ooohh
So i look down on this world
We never looked so small
So I look down to the future
We never knew we could grow
I look down
So I look down

I look down on this world
We never knew we could grow so tall

Overall Meaning

In Stevie McCrorie's song Wolves, he describes slipping into different worlds, experiencing new sensations and discovering that what seemed impossible could be possible. The opening lines paint the picture of the singer slipping into the moon and discovering a different world, where the sea is green and the land is blue - a stark contrast to Earth. The singer marvels at the possibilities of what they're seeing, expressing surprise that this could be possible. They then describe jumping into space and attempting to grab a star, only to be pushed back out by the force of gravity.

The chorus of the song is where the idea of "tracking wolves" comes in. While it's not entirely clear what this phrase means, it seems to suggest a need to find and confront something that's been causing damage. Whether the wolves are literal or a metaphorical representation of a problem is open to interpretation. The chorus repeats the idea of looking down on the world, with the message that we never knew we could grow so tall.

Overall, the song seems to be about the wonder of discovery and coming to terms with the heights that we can reach. The imagery of slipping into different worlds and looking down on the Earth from above suggests a desire to escape from the problems of everyday life and find a new perspective.

Holy F. Right. That's it. The Voice is over for me. Stevie wins already.

@DigitalliPix

Exactly what I said about 10-15 seconds into his audition. I love when a singer gives me goosebumps. It's been an absolute joy to find his own songs on here too. Would love to see him perform Big World at the final - when he wins!

BTW love your comments, which I've discovered via the audition video. Restores my faith in intelligent life on earth ;-)

DigitalliPix He is great! I hope he manages to get something out of the show. Especially nice to see he has material available to buy. If he gets through the battles he should gather momentum. A lot will depend on the material he can get hold of. He'll have to be strong and dig his heels in if need be, but also he will be given lots of good advice, so it'll be finding the balance. Thanks for the compliment. I'll keep commenting if you keep reading!

@DigitalliPix

Great advice there. Spot on.
And yes, his own music is outstanding. I'm making up with itunes after 4 years so I can buy it :-)
