Stevie Ray Vaughan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well the house is a rockin' don't bother knockin'
Yeah the house is a rockin' don't bother knockin'
Yeah the house is a rockin' don't bother come on in

Kick off your shoes start losin' the blues
This old house ain't got nothin' to lose
Seen it all for years start spreadin' the news
We got room on the floor come on baby shake sumpin' loose

Well the house is a rockin' don't bother knockin'
Yeah the house is a rockin' don't bother knockin'
Yeah the house is a rockin' don't bother come on in

Well the house is a rockin' don't bother knockin'
Yeah the house is a rockin' don't bother knockin'
Yeah the house is a rockin' don't bother come on in

Walkin' up the street you can hear the sound
Of some bad honky tonkers really layin' it down
They've seen it all for years and got nothin' to lose
So get down on the floor shimmy 'til you shake sumpin' loose

Well the house is a rockin' don't bother knockin'
Yeah the house is a rockin' don't bother knockin'
Yeah the house is a rockin' don't bother come on in

I said the house is a rockin' don't bother come on in

I'm in this video! It was filmed at a frat house at Ga Tech and I bounce past the camera at some point. It took many hours of filming, during which we were all treated to listening to Stevie play guitar non-stop

SVR didn't have a choreographer or use today's lip synching or huge spectacles and light shows.
All he did was to totally master his instrument, become one of the best EVER, and play the guitar like a skilled surgeon slicing through his riffs. So glad we've had people like Stevie who showed that actual musicianship is what matters!

2+ minutes of blazing rock-blues boogie exactly as the Masters intended. RIP Legend.
