Bad Dreams
Still Patient? Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I see me crying
And it seems
Everyone's lying
I see
Nothing tonight
And it's killing me
From the inside
BAD DREAMS
I never follow
The streams
Words are hollow
Nobody knows the other
Nobody knows his brother
WAKE WAKE me up
WAKE WAKE me up
WAKE WAKE me up
WAKE WAKE me up
BAD DREAMS
I look behind
The scenes
Before I go blind
I see a light
I think I'm dying
It's shining bright
But it's lying
WAKE WAKE me up
WAKE WAKE me up
WAKE WAKE me up
WAKE WAKE me up
WAKE WAKE me up
The colours fade
WAKE WAKE me up
Before it's too late
WAKE WAKE me up
The colours fade
WAKE WAKE me up
Before it's too late
The song Bad Dreams by Still Patient? is a haunting and introspective examination of the nature of reality and deception. The opening lines, "I see me crying, and it seems everyone's lying," set the stage for the rest of the song's exploration of the illusory nature of truth. The singer expresses a sense of loneliness and isolation, as they feel disconnected from the world around them and unable to trust even their own perceptions. The repetition of the phrase "WAKE WAKE me up" throughout the song suggests a desire to awaken from this dreamlike state, to escape the cycle of deception and confusion.
The song's lyrics are open to interpretation, but one possible reading is that it is a commentary on the limitations of human perception and the ways in which we can be misled by our own senses. The lines "Nobody knows the other, nobody knows his brother" suggest a broader social commentary on the dangers of social isolation and division. The song ends on a note of urgency, with the repeated refrain "WAKE WAKE me up" serving as a call to action or a desperate plea for help.
Overall, Bad Dreams is a powerful and thought-provoking song that raises important questions about the nature of reality and the human experience. Its haunting melody and emotive lyrics make it a standout track in Still Patient?'s discography.
