It all started with "The Fratellis," Stolen Babies' original 12+ member group. Horns blared, oversized dolls jumped out of toy boxes, squabbles were had, babies were stolen, turned into flies and fed to giant spiders. Eventually, the blundering theatrics came to an end, but the four stuck together.
More misadventure, more junk food...
Taking their name from a song/skit from the early days, Stolen Babies have been described as playing prog-pop-cabaret-thrash-quirky-goth-rock. Mostly though, they would just like to think that their songs are fun to dance and fall down to.
It's nearly impossible to talk about Stolen Babies without mentioning their ongoing collaboration with graphic novelist extraordinaire Crab Scrambly. His artwork has graced their early releases, website and merch. More notably you can see Crab's original paintings that provide the otherworldly landscapes to Stolen Babies video "Push Button," and of course the artwork for the bands debut full length album "There Be Squabbles Ahead," which was recorded and produced by Dan Rathburn of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. Which now brings Stolen Babies to...the beginning of The End.

The lyrics to "The Button Has Been Pushed" by Stolen Babies are quite enigmatic and open to interpretation. On a surface level, the lyrics describe a sense of urgency and pressure, with the repetition of the word "pushing" and the line "the world is a ploy." This may suggest that the singer feels like they are being pushed and pulled by outside forces and that the world around them is not what it seems, but rather a contrived construct designed to manipulate them.
However, the song takes on a darker and more ominous tone as it progresses. The line "the button has been pushed" is repeated multiple times, suggesting that something catastrophic has happened. This line may be a reference to the idea of pushing a button to launch a nuclear missile or some other kind of destructive weapon. The sense of desperation and impending doom is further emphasized by the repeated line, "we're all going to die tonight."
Overall, "The Button Has Been Pushed" is a song that explores themes of manipulation, control, and destruction. It may be seen as a commentary on the dangers of technology, politics, or other societal forces that have the power to reshape the world in frightening ways.
