Where Do Our Children Belong
Stray Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A child is born everyday
What's the future, who can say?
Will it be good or bad
And how will our children get on?
Yes how will our children get on?
Children left without a care
If this thing will carry on
Then where do our children belong?
Yes where do our children belong?
All around the world
In every city in every country
Children playing in the streets
Future generations-oh yeah!
That's where our children belong
That's where our children belong
Conscience has run away to hide
A baby on a doorstep for the night
A mother who thinks that she knows best
Has failed the all important test
A child is born everyday
What's the future, who can say?
Will it be good or bad
How will our children get on?
Yes how will our children get on?
The lyrics of Stray's "Where Do Our Children Belong" deal with the concept of children and their place in society. The song recognizes the fact that a child is born every day, and contemplates what the future holds for them. It questions whether the future will be good or bad and how these children will fare. The song expresses a sense of concern about children who are left without care and those who are left stranded on doorsteps. It highlights the fact that if this trend continues, it is difficult to determine where children truly belong.
The lyrics also discuss how children are playing in the streets all around the world and how they represent future generations. The song suggests that the world belongs to the children and they have the right to a secure future. However, it also recognizes that many children are not given the same opportunities and advantages, and some are not even given a fair start in life. The song points out that conscience seems to have run away to hide, and mothers who believe that they know best often fail the all-important test of parenting.
Overall, Stray's "Where Do Our Children Belong" urges people to recognize the importance of children in society, highlighting the need for care and support. It shows how children represent the future of society and how we need to provide them with the tools necessary to succeed in life. The song's powerful message resonates with people all over the world, highlighting the importance of addressing the needs of children everywhere.
