After couple of solo performances as a singer/songwriter, Dukat Stray a.k.a. Stray Dogg decided to form a band in the winter of 2011 with Ana Janković and Jelena Damjanović who are the graduates of the Music Academy of Belgrade.
The band performed as a opening act to Chinawoman and Scout Niblett after only a couple of months ofpractice, with only a 4 song Demo available. The band needed another guitar player, and that's when Marko, former member of the Belgrade electropop band Inje, joined Stray Dogg to play solo guitar.
In 2011 they released their debut album "Almost" available for free download at their Bandcamp page. The album was recorded in a studio called "Baukova Soba".
In 2012, two new members (Uroš Milkić, Vladimir Milićević) joined the band during their concert tour. In October they released their second album titled "Fire's Never Wrong" following the July single release of the same title. Album brings 9 new songs, one of them, titled Time, features Devendra Banhart. This album is also available for free download at their Bandcamp page.

Break
Stray Dogg Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In the name of sailors and vampires
You know love is not a whore
It's just a fake empire
We break and fall
We break and fall
How could you be so calm
You know love is not a whore
It's just a fake empire
We break and fall
We break and fall
How could you be so calm
We broke
In Stray Dogg's song Break, the lyrics suggest that the characters in the song drink to live a bit more, and their inspiration is the sailors and vampires. These symbols represent an adventurous, unconventional lifestyle that they aspire to. However, the lyrics also suggest that love is not a whore; it is not to be used for selfish ends or to be thoughtlessly discarded. Love is more than that, and the characters realize they are caught up in a "fake empire" that doesn't recognize the true value of love. The lyrics suggest that things have broken apart, and the characters have fallen. Despite this, there is a sense of calm that the characters seem to possess, even though things have been ruined.
The phrase "We drink to live a 'bit more" can be interpreted in several ways. It could mean that individuals drink to escape reality and indulge in excesses. It could also mean that drinking provides them with a sense of liberation, where they can experience life more fully without restraint. The use of sailors and vampires is interesting as both the symbols represent characteristics like adventure, danger, and daring. The characters may be drawn to these themes and may aspire to live life in a way similar to these symbols. The idea that love is not a whore is a powerful one, as it suggests that love is significant and has value that cannot be easily dismissed. It is possible that the characters have experienced love being discarded or have witnessed others treat love in a less valuable way, leading them to question what love truly means.
The repetition of the phrase "We break and fall" highlights the idea of things falling apart. It is possible that the characters have experienced a breakup, a falling out with loved ones, or a loss that has caused them to feel broken. The use of the word "calm" suggests that despite the chaos and pain, there is a sense of acceptance and peace within them. The line "How could you be so calm/We broke" could imply that the situation has taken a toll on them, and they are surprised to find a sense of calm amid the chaos. The idea of breaking and falling is a familiar one, and it is apparent that the characters are struggling to come to terms with the situation they find themselves in. Overall, the lyrics of Break provide a glimpse into the lives of characters who are struggling with their emotions, relationships, and sense of self, while trying to navigate the complexities of life.
