One Fine Day
Streebeck Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Opened up my heart, and I lost everything
I don't know where to start, to build this up again
And every day I hope
I wake up from this dream
Then my phone will ring
You'll want to talk to me

Talk to me

Telephones away, and I can't sleep again
The drink it numbs the pain, will help it go away
It's just a dumb routine
It helps to numb the pain
Keeps the dream alive
Something's got to change
And every day I hope
I wake up from this dream
That my phone will ring
You'll want to talk to me

Talk to me

Maybe one fine day, all of this will change
And I can't stand the way
And I can't take this
Maybe one fine day
All this pain will fade
Time gets in the way
And I won't need this
I won't make this
I won't need this

And every day I hope
I wake up from this dream
Then my phone will ring
You'll want to talk to me
You'll want to talk to me
You'll want to talk to me

Talk to me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Streebeck's song One Fine Day describe a person who has opened up their heart and lost everything as a result. The lyrics express the feelings of confusion and uncertainty that come with trying to rebuild after such a loss. Every day the singer hopes to wake up from the dream and receive a phone call from someone who wants to talk to them. This person is longing for connection, perhaps hoping for someone to help them find their way.

The lyrics also touch on the theme of addiction, with the singer using drinking to help numb the pain and create a routine. The repetition of the phrase "something's got to change" indicates that the singer is aware that they need to alter their habits, but might not know how to do so. The lyrics end on a hopeful note, with the singer dreaming of a day where the pain will fade and they won't need their current coping mechanisms anymore.

Overall, the song explores the emotional turmoil that comes with losing everything and trying to rebuild while navigating addiction and a lack of connection.

The funniest part is when they reenact the "Pagan" dance for the Chief back at HQ....

I still think it's hilarious how Streebeck scoops all that evidence off the drug tray, but Friday begs off with "I had a big lunch."

Yeah, he maintained their cover pretty well. If they'd been on the street, Joe would've given the guy a lecture about how drugs are bad for you, just like he did with those kids who try to bum smokes off him.

On the Sick and Wrong Podcast, Episode 608, they were talking about a recent (October 2017) Anton LaVey retrospective exhibition in which a Black Mass by Stephen Johnson Leyba was performed. Apparently, during the Black Mass, there were some dancers wearing goat masks and the host said that the dancers reminded him of the People Against Goodness And Normalcy (P.A.G.A.N) from the Dragnet movie. 😂
