Channeling the feelings of late summer nights filled with unapologetic cheap beer, of loosely laced sneakers sullied with an impulse only the city kids of yesteryear remember, of a misplaced youth that rightfully indulges in equally misplaced nostalgia, of driving your shit car to that dusty, unfrequented record store, of spending hours lying on that terrible carpet you’ve been meaning to tear up, Street Joy makes honeyed rock and roll that’s still rough around the edges--a rock and roll with Northern California roots that have thrived in the Southern California sun. The songwriting is that of the cassettes a dad would show his son on car rides to baseball practice, and the production pulls from the music that son would later discover from his dorm room neighbor. Street Joy is easy to understand and hard to ignore.
