It's about time for another Canadian high-octane band to set the world on fire. Standing on the shoulders of Canadian giants like Annihilator, Exciter, Cauldron and the best of European and American Speed Metal, STRIKER certainly are one of the finest newcomers from Canada in the last decade.
Formed in 2007 by Ian Sandercock and Dan Cleary, Striker found a consistent lineup in the Summer of 2008 and released their debut EP βRoad Warriorβ on Iron Kodex Records. The widely praised EP warranted a European tour invitation, which included stops at the renowned βKeep it Trueβ Festival in Germany and the βPounding Metalβ Festival in Madrid Spain in Spring 2010, but unfortunately due to volcanic activity the trip had to be cancelled (See the song Fuck Volcanoes for more details)
With their debut full-length βEyes in the Nightβ receiving rave reviews from all over the world , Striker are fully loaded and ready to shred!!

Born to Lose
Striker Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Always been the one to say
I'm ready to take a leap of faith
Born to lose live to win
Back in for another swing
Sending chills down my spine
Going across the line
But I'm living to win
Time to change my state of mind
Broken down and left behind
It's not the way it's gonna be
I've been down been counted out
Hear the voices start to shout
Feels like the world is on your shoulders
Born to lose
But I'm living to win
Can't you see, I'm living free
You can't cage me, I'm born to lose but I'm living free
Born to lose
But I'm living to win
The song Born to Lose by Striker is an empowering anthem that encourages the listener to see things in a different way and take a leap of faith. The opening lyrics suggest that the singer has always been someone who perceives the world differently and is willing to take risks. The chorus, βBorn to lose but Iβm living to win,β reflects a paradoxical outlook on life - it is almost paradoxical because being born to lose implies a predisposition to failure, but living to win suggests an unyielding determination to succeed.
The second verse of the song indicates that the singer has experienced setbacks and challenges, but is determined not to be defined by those challenges. The lines, βItβs not the way itβs gonna be, Iβve been down and counted out,β are about coming to the realization that the current state of things is not the end-all be-all, and that being counted out, or underestimated, is only one perspective. The chorus is repeated, emphasizing the message that the singer is not limited by anyoneβs expectations of them.
Overall, the song Born to Lose is a motivational and optimistic track encouraging the listener to embrace a forward-thinking and daring mindset, even in the face of adversity or when things seem toughest. Itβs a song about seizing opportunities, taking chances, and believing in oneself.
