Stryper Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I was born to rock and I'll give it all I've got
I'm sure these boys will say the same.
We're rockin for the rock, and I know we'll never stop.
And we well never be ashamed.
We're here to rock for you an rock is what we'll do
Until your body feels the sound.
So don't be afraid to shout cause that's what it's all about.
We've got to spread it all around.

[Chorus]
C'mon rock, rock, rock.
C'mon never stop.
C'mon rock, rock, rock.
C'mon never stop.

[Verse 2]
It's catching on so fast, we've got to make it last
But we can't ever low the key.
That opens all the doors and keeps us wanting more.
It's all up to you and me.
So, let's give it all we've got until we reach the top.
Together we can make a stand.

We're here to rock for you and rock is what we'll do.
C'mon and help us rock the land.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Stryper's song "Come On Rock," convey a passion for the rock genre and a willingness to embrace it wholeheartedly. The lyrics suggest that the band members were born rock stars and will dedicate themselves to the art form entirely. They are playing for their audience who shares their ardor and who they will never disappoint. This verse signifies that the band feels no shame in their rock identity and that they want their music to reach every corner of the world. The chorus of the song, which repeats the words “C'mon rock, rock, rock. C'mon never stop,” emphasizes the unwavering passion and dedication they have for rock music.

The second verse indicates the music genre is catching fire worldwide and that the band needs to continue to contribute to its influence. The group will never stop playing rock music, but it's not solely upon them, the people must support them. The lines "That opens all the doors and keeps us wanting more. It's all up to you and me," suggest that together, the band and music lovers could significantly impact the genre's success. With this, the band pleads to their fans to help them spread their music around the world, by coming to their concerts and raving about how good they are.

Do Unto Others
We all have questions
Many concerns
Simple frustrations
Respect is what we yearn
We are offended
Easily on cue
Often unfriended
Without a single clue
If we could step back
To see what matters
We would call off the attack
Break the hate
And watch it shatter
Do Unto Others as you would
Have them do unto you
Often it's a thought misunderstood
But one we must pursue
This life is too short
To waste a day
And worry about
The games we often play
Look to the future
It's shining bright
It's really not hard
To choose what we know is right
It's simple choices
We make alone
If we would think of each other
Maybe we would heal
Not suffer
Do Unto Others as you would
Have them do unto you
Often it's a thought misunderstood
But one we must pursue

Back in the 80s when my friends and I were drinking and drugging and trying to live the metal lifestyle we ran into Stryper on several occasions at parties and backstage at clubs and I have to say these guys held true to their faith every step of the way ! you never saw them doing drugs or picking up on chicks for the night! I’ll never forget one night they were playing at Universal Amphitheater in LA. Of course me and my friends were doing Coke but after seeing Stryper with leatherwolf opening up for them my buddy and I actually felt totally convicted and we threw away the Coke that we had left and as anybody who knows that never happens .....unless the Holy Spirit is involved!......My friends and I who have since become saved and are followers of Jesus still talk about that night! I remember on several occasions Stryper actually throwing small Bibles out into the audience instead of drumsticks and pics nice touch guys!

Yup! I've been following them sing the Yellow and Black Attack. I've seen them and remember them throwing Bibles into the crowd! They are just as driving as 40 years ago!!!

My buddy who was not saved at the time caught one of those bibles when Stryper played in the basement of the Syria Mosque in 1985. I still have that copy.
Dave Ellefsons's book "My Life With Deth" was a phenomenal read and how he got off the drugs and gave his life to the Lord (as well as Dave Mustaine). Back in the day I read Doug Van Pelt's interview with Megadeth for his HM Magazine (formerly Heaven's Metal) and I prayed for the band members. So cool that came to fruition.

This is what a band that's been together since the 80s looks like without drugs and alcohol. Michael Sweet can still belt out those vocals.

Bertisevil666

Not a Christian, but I've always respected Stryper for their musical ability, love of this country, and obvious dedication to their beliefs.

NEVER apologize for , or compromise on your faith!

Mones Jones

If you apologize for or give in to compromise, you don't have any faith.

Jeymez

ok
