Right now, that band is rising up through the ranks and they are Stuck On Planet Earth. Just like that moment of release right after you’ve filled your lungs with the coolest breathe of fresh air, their songs are the kind that reach inside your chest, rip out your heart, and let it beat on recklessly while they hold it in their hands.
Stuck On Planet Earth was formed in early 2007 out of a desire to connect with a new generation of young people and bring a little fire back to rock & roll. As a means of doing just that, the band created “The Bak Pack Tour” which was comprised of a series of guerilla style acoustic performances set up in the parking lots of high schools across the province of Ontario. The element of surprise really engaged high school audiences and thoroughly pissed off the establishment. The tours were documented on film and turned into Youtube webisodes capturing both the band’s perspective as well as their fans. After three successful runs between 2008 and 2010, not only does this Toronto based alternative rock band have the attention of the listening public, they also have the interest of numerous media outlets across the country.
Stuck On Planet Earth has since been featured as part of 102.1 The Edge’s Steam Whistle Indie Club, Bookie’s New Music Night, and Lesbian Lu’s ROCK*ER. The band maintains rotation on numerous college radio stations across Southern Ontario (CHRY, 91 X FM), and has been a recommended rising act on The Strombo Show (Corus Network).
Stuck On Planet Earth are no strangers to the television cameras either as they have been widely featured on ROGERS TV (The Day Time Show, Independent Scene, The Jay Show) as well as The Being Frank Show (CHCH) and CHUM Television (CTV). To date the band has released three EP’s, their self-titled Stuck On Planet Earth (2008), Plus Minus EP (2009), and their most recent Realities EP, which was produced by long time collaborator Fil Bucchino (Flashlight Brown, The Johnstones, The Black Rainbows, Tricky) and which will be released in April of 2011. Currently the band is preparing to embark upon their REALITIES TOUR, which will take them across Ontario and to Quebec in support of the new EP.

Serotonin
Stuck On Planet Earth Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I′m waiting for the rush
Fade in, fade out (Eh)
This life's for the living
Get down just to stay awake
I don′t ask for forgiveness
I come 'round when I get my taste
Wake serotonin, coming to the ride
I wait for the moment when you get me high
Wake serotonin, help me come alive
Make it alright, come and get me high
This life's for the taking
I′m here just to get my fix
Tough love that I′m facing
I'll hang on till the trip kicks in
Wake serotonin, coming to the ride
I wait for the moment when you get me high
Wake serotonin, help me come alive
Make it alright, come and get me high (High)
Come and get me high (High)
(Never wanna come down)
(Never wanna come down)
(Never wanna come down)
(Never wanna come down)
(Never wanna come down)
Wake serotonin, coming to the ride
I wait for the moment when you et me high
Wake serotonin, help me come alive
Make it alright, come and get me high (High)
Come and get me high (High)
Come and get me high
The lyrics to "Serotonin" by Stuck On Planet Earth are all about seeking a high, both physically and emotionally. The song describes a life of constant craving and anticipation for that rush of serotonin, the neurotransmitter responsible for feelings of happiness and well-being. The opening line, "Slow down, hurry up, I'm waiting for the rush," sets the tone for the entire song, as the singer struggles to balance the desire for immediate gratification with the reality of a world that moves too fast. The phrase, "Fade in, fade out," is repeated several times throughout the song, emphasizing the fleetingness of these euphoric moments.
As the song progresses, we see that the singer is aware of the risks associated with this kind of lifestyle, but is willing to take them anyway. The line, "Tough love that I'm facing, I'll hang on till the trip kicks in," is a reminder that sometimes the things we need most in life can also be the most dangerous. Despite this, the singer knows that they can rely on serotonin to "help [them] come alive" and make everything "alright" again.
