San Francisco
Sturla Atlas Lyrics

Heading out, to San Francisco
To buy me a pistol
Wanna bring you along babe
Fuck what all the other guys say, for your sake
Heading out, to San Francisco
To buy me a pistol
Wanna bring you along babe
Fuck what all the other guys say, for your sake
I can't remember
These last few days
Brain getting foggy
Boys are smoking tons of haze
Diamond necklace, champagne
Country club with tennis courts and sun to gain
Cause girl you know it
I'll be your guy
Posted out in California, drinking wine
Don't wanna lie, when I see your eyes
I get all shaky so come along I'm
Heading out, to San Francisco
To buy me a pistol
Wanna bring you along babe
Fuck what all the other guys say, for your sake
Heading out, to San Francisco
To buy me a pistol
Wanna bring you along babe
Fuck what all the other guys say, for your sake
Ooh, you know, you know
Can't stay
I got to go Sunday's here
And I'm faded
Driving down the 405
101 I hold it down
Hosting parties in your town
We tear shit up
I understand
You don't wanna say it
But you love us
And we're what the city needs
Clad in cashmere
Sativa my cologne
We wildin' out we rollin' up
Heading out, to San Francisco
To buy me a pistol
Wanna bring you along babe
Fuck what all the other guys say, for your sake
Heading out, to San Francisco
To buy me a pistol

Wanna bring you along babe
Fuck what all the other guys say, for your sake

Overall Meaning

Sturla Atlas's song "San Francisco" tells the story of the singer's journey to the city, where he intends to buy a pistol while accompanied by his lover. Despite criticism from others, he is willing to do anything for the woman he loves. The beginning of the song sets the scene for the journey, with the singer announcing his intention to head out to San Francisco to purchase a pistol. He then asserts his desire to have his lover accompany him, disregarding the opinions of others. The repetition of the chorus underlines the singer's unwavering conviction in his choices.

As the song progresses, the lyrics describe the singer's hedonistic lifestyle. He paints a picture of the high life, which includes diamond necklaces, champagne, and exclusive country clubs. Despite the hedonism, the singer's love for his partner seems to ground him. He expresses his commitment to her, declaring himself her "guy" who will always be there for her. The juxtaposition between his commitment to his lover and his indulgent lifestyle suggests that he may be struggling to reconcile love with his desire for instant gratification.

The latter part of the song is more explicit about the singer's lifestyle, with him describing his wild parties and his willingness to push boundaries. The lines "We wildin' out we rollin' up" demonstrate his fondness for smoking sativa, and the reference to the 405 and 101 highways suggest his adventures and exploits have extended well beyond San Francisco's city limits.

Overall, the song provides a glimpse into the singer's psyche as he navigates his way through life's pleasures and pitfalls. The lyrics convey his desire for love, his rebelliousness, and his disdain for social norms.

This song blows my mind in a really chill way. As an American kid I listen to hiphop and things like San Fran and the 405 they talk about seems so distant and cool/unrelatable to me. But thin to have some random kids in Iceland singing those same kind of lyrics about San Fran with obviously cold and foreign scenery in the background is crazy but makes me feel oddly close to far away places.
