Parks grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, US, where she "messed around with instruments in the house" and took up violin in the fourth grade, eventually teaching herself how to play the instrument by ear. When she discovered the violin playing style of Northeast Africa, her eyes opened to the possibilities of the instrument. "The way they played it was different from classical music. I resonated with the style, and I was like, 'Maybe I can use this style with electronic music,'" she says. She has released two projects to date, including the self-titled Sudan Archives in July 2017, and Sink in 2018, both on Stones Throw Records.

Back up, back up
I fell down

Sudan Archives's song "Confessions" is a powerful expression of resilience and determination. The repeated lyrics "I fell down and started, back up, back up" convey a message of perseverance and not letting setbacks hold you back. The use of repetition emphasizes the importance of resilience and not giving up even in the face of adversity. The phrase "back up, back up" could also be interpreted as a call to action to keep pushing forward no matter what.

Confessions :
I fell down
And started
Back up then seal the feeling
I'm too unique to kneel
I washed away my fears
And trust in my own ears
My own regret revealed
There is a place that I call home
But it's not where I am welcome
And if I saw all the angels
Why is my presence so painful?
Confessions are falling down
Down
Down
They soak up the dark, damp ground
Down
Down
I know it's weird
How all this green appeared
I think I dreamt it here
I promise I'm sincere
And as to my own will
Watch me frollic through the fields, bitch
There is a place that I call home
But it's not where I am welcome
And if I saw all the angels
Why is my presence so painful?
Confessions are falling down
Down
Down
They soak up the dark, damp ground
