The Promise
Suffocate Faster Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Every breathe you take, each time you try
Life's a small price to pay for some piece of mind
In the blink of an eye, your life becomes a lie
Look into the mirror, is this what you love?
Make no mistake, this is no game
It's what's in your heart
Our edge can never be dulled
Defeat is not an option
To our strength, no one can compare
You can't compare
Look to the sky, as you start to cry
Never lose sight of this life long fight
You can't bring us down
You can't bring me down
Every breath you take
We grow stronger
We resist your filth
Our edge can never be dulled
Defeat is not an option
To our strength, no one can compare
You can't compare
The time has come
For us to show the world
This is our life
The only one we have to live
Never give up
Never close your eyes
Or in the end, it will mean your demise

The line "We resist your filth, our edge can never be dulled" can be interpreted as the idea of not allowing external factors to dull one's spirit or determination to succeed. The line "To our strength, no one can compare, you can't compare" shows the belief in oneself and the strength of individuality. The song encourages listeners to keep pushing themselves and to stay focused on their goals, even when faced with adversity.
