Don't Die
Suicide Silence Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Life is a prison
Imagined by the demons within
It's in your head so get the fuck out and come see me

I will give you every ounce of my being
I will give you the strength
I will give you every ounce of my being
I will show you my strength

So let it drain out
Send every bit of that hate out to me
We are here to make this moment eternal
Just give me your hate

I will give you every ounce of my being
I will give you the strength
I will give you every ounce of my being
Just give me your hate

We have been beaten down, we have been pushed aside
We sing these songs so that you don't die
We sing these songs for the broken down
The beaten up and pushed aside
You aren't alone in this path of life
We sing these songs so you don't die
So you don't die

I WILL SHOW YOU A PIT OF REDEMPTION
A place where you can find your own
We won't be tortured by the hatred
Taken in arms we make hate our home

We are the beaten and pushed aside
We sing these songs so you don't die
We are the beaten and pushed aside
We sing these songs so you don't die
(Die)
We sing these songs so you don't die

(We sing the songs for the broken down)
(The beaten up and pushed aside)
(You aren't alone in this path of life)

We sing these songs so that you don't die
We sing the songs for the broken down
The beaten up and pushed aside
You aren't alone in this path of life

We sing these songs so you don't, you don't, die
We sing these songs so you don't die

Overall Meaning

The opening lyrics of "Life is a prison, imagined by the demons within, it's in your head so get the fuck out and come see me" allude to the idea that we imprison ourselves with our thoughts and negative beliefs. The demons are our own limiting beliefs that prevent us from experiencing life fully. The lyrics express an invitation to share the burden with the vocalist and to allow him to show you how to overcome your inner demons. The use of explicit language adds emphasis to the message, indicating that the vocalist is willing to take on the challenge of helping someone overcome their struggles.

The subsequent lyrics "send every bit of that hate out to me, we are here to make this moment eternal, just give me your hate," suggest that the vocalist is willing to take on not only the burden but also the hate that the listener may be experiencing. The vocalist encourages the listener to give him their hate and let it drain out, suggesting that negative emotions can be purged by allowing them to be expressed and shared. The line "we are here to make this moment eternal" indicates that the connection between the vocalist and the listener is both profound and enduring.

The phrase "We sing these songs so you don't die" is repeated throughout the song and serves as a mantra of hope and encouragement. The lyrics encourage the listener to find comfort in knowing that they are not alone and that others have experienced similar struggles. The song suggests that the struggles of life can be endured through the shared experience of music.

People want to hate this, despite the fact that they're still a great band. Just imagine this song with Mitch's vocals; both this and Cease To Exist would sound EXACTLY like Suicide Silence with Mitch's vocals, but Mitch is gone and that won't change. I for one have a crazy amount of respect for the band. Imagine being in a band with one of your best friends for years and years, and despite him dying still finding the strength to carry on and get up onstage without him every night just to keep his legacy alive. Every day the guys keep this band alive they will be reminded of not only losing a band member, but a best friend to a horrible accident. But they still keep writing music and keep doing this for Mitch, and for US. They're writing music for Mitch and for the fans, and whether you like the music or not I would expect people to at least have a sense of decency. There's a lot more to this than you teenagers writing bitchy comments behind your computer screens seem to understand.

@LookAtTheFools

Exactly!! ^^^^^^^

@msr760

Lewis, that is truly the best response to any comment i've ever seen complaining about eddie and SS.

@NinthCinemaDown

Finally someone who gets it. And, truth be told, the new guy has serious skill when judged on its own merit.
