Waste
Summons Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Obliteration of conversation
Death of courtesy
Tunnel vision with precision
Tuning out what you don't want to see
Staring but not caring about what you don't get instantly
Saturation of invention instability

Slave to the phases
Too many faces

Breeding stupidity

Overall Meaning

In these lyrics, Summons is highlighting the negative effects of modern society's communication habits. The first two lines, "Obliteration of conversation, Death of courtesy," suggest that meaningful conversations and polite interactions are becoming less common or even non-existent. This could be due to various factors such as the rise of technology, social media, or a general lack of interest in engaging with others on a deeper level.

The following line, "Tunnel vision with precision," describes how people are becoming more focused on their individual goals and desires, often disregarding or tuning out anything that doesn't align with their interests. The phrase "Tuning out what you don't want to see" further emphasizes this selective attention, where people consciously or unconsciously ignore information or perspectives that challenge their preconceived notions or comfort zones.

The lyrics continue by pointing out that despite the act of staring at things, there is a lack of genuine concern or empathy. "Staring but not caring about what you don't get instantly" implies that people may observe what's happening around them, but they choose not to invest time or effort in truly understanding or empathizing with others. This attitude reflects a fast-paced and instant gratification-driven society, where immediate understanding or results are valued over deeper connection or empathy.

The final two lines, "Saturation of invention instability, Slave to the phases, Too many faces, Breeding stupidity," criticize the excess and instability of constant innovation and the obsession with trends and superficial appearances. The phrase "Saturation of invention instability" suggests that the rapid pace of technological advancements and constant introduction of new ideas can lead to a lack of stability or cohesion in society. Additionally, the lines "Slave to the phases, Too many faces, Breeding stupidity" express the idea that being overly fixated on trends, constantly changing identities, and prioritizing surface-level appearances ultimately results in a lack of critical thinking and intelligence.

Overall, Summons's song "Waste" captures the disillusionment and negative consequences of societal behaviors, such as the decline of meaningful conversations, selective attention, the lack of genuine care, and the obsession with trends and appearances. It serves as a critique of modern society's values and communication habits, urging listeners to reflect on these issues and consider the importance of empathy, understanding, and genuine engagement with others.

If I could suggest a run:
Do a fake sorcerer run. Use only moves that cost FP to attack but you can’t use sorcery’s or incantations.

There’s a lot of things that cost FP so there enough variety to make things interesting.

Ex:
fire pot- no, Magic pots- yes
Bone darts- no, crystal darts- yes
All tools, spirit ashes, ashes of war are allowed
( in order to avoid ash of war run you can only use ashes of war for 1 FP bar per rest at grace, [optional though, might be to hard] )

Try to be elden lord while having flunked out of Raya Lucaria

Cosmo Mind's comment about "becoming Elden Lord after flunking out of Raya Lucaria" gave me an idea for a run.

Beat Elden Ring as a Noble Sorcerer. The guys who actually DID flunk out of Raya Lucaria.

- Prisoner start for base Glintstone Staff. You aren't allowed to use any other staff.
- Not allowed to cast any spells other than Glintstone Pebble or deal damage with anything else except bonking with the staff if you absolutely have to. You can buy Glintstone Pebble from Thops without having to fight anything.
- Not allowed to equip weapons, just the staff (no Golden Vow dagger for you).
- Must dress the part: Unaltered Aristocrat Garb, Aristocrat Headband, Aristocrat Boots. Farm for it in the ruins next to Iji or just cheat it in.
- The most important part: You are not allowed to increase your INT in any way. No levelling it up, no talismans or gear that boost it, no Intelligence-knot Crystal Tear. If you could get smarter, you wouldn't have flunked out.
- Levelling up other stats is allowed.
- Other ways to improve your damage like the Graven talismans, Magic Scorpion Charm, Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear, and upgrading the staff itself are allowed.
- Summoning your fellow Noble Sorcerer is allowed, as well as upgrading him, but not Mimic Tear.
