The name "Superman Is Dead" was derived from Stone Temple Pilots's "Silvergun Superman". The name was modified to "Superman Is Dead" because they liked the idea that there's no such thing as a perfect, invincible person out there.
Originally stumbled together in 1995, drawn by their common love of Green Day and NOFX, their influences soon extended to the punk 'n roll genre a la Supersuckers, Living End, and Social Distortion.
SID produced their first three albums independently, with fabulous, small scale indie labels "Case 15" (1997), "Superman is Dead" (1999), "Bad Bad Bad" EP (2002). In March 2003 they finally signed with Sony Music Indonesia and released their first album under that label, "Kuta Rock City". Their second album "The Hangover Decade" was released in December 2004. Their Third album "Black Market Love" was released in March 2006. Their latest album "Angels And The Outsider" was released in February 2009.
