Oye bien, soquetón, cuida bien a tu jeva
Oigan santiagueros, sigan adelante
Oigan santiagueros, sigan adelante
Oigan santiagueros, sigan adelante
Oigan santiagueros, sigan adelante
Oigan santiagueros, sigan adelante
Oigan santiagueros, sigan adelante
Oigan santiagueros, sigan adelante
The lyrics to Sur Caribe's song "A" tell the story of Micaela, who left her home to explore new paths and face the challenges that fate brought upon her. However, she is constantly filled with sadness, suffering, and longing for her past life. The lyrics make a clever play on words by referring to her longing as "la conga," a style of music and dance originating from Santiago de Cuba. It is her connection to her roots and the vibrant energy of conga that she is missing the most.
Throughout the song, Micaela's pain and desire for fulfillment are emphasized. She is tormented by the feeling of dissatisfaction and an unfulfilled longing for something she doesn't have. The lyrics suggest that she is willing to go to extreme measures to satisfy this longing, even if it means risking everything. The song also touches on the contrast between Micaela's passion for conga and the false notion that she should be a "rockero," demonstrating her rejection of societal expectations and her determination to stay true to herself.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of inner struggle, longing, and defiance against societal norms. It speaks to the power of music, particularly the conga, as a source of joy and connection to one's roots. Micaela's story serves as a reminder to hold onto what brings us happiness and fulfillment, even if it defies expectations or societal norms.

VIVA nuestra bella cultura!!! Ashe pa ti.
