After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music scene to find that her charting power had already faded. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1999, Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to a loyal following.
Her most recent recordings have ventured into swing and jazz variations of country. These albums really showcase the tremendous talent in her voice. Suzy is a true singer, and her voice has so much versatility.
In 2014, Suzy added an album of Merle Haggard songs entitled "Lucky". The country & western flavor dominates this album, unlike some of her other recent work. To promote this new album, Suzy has embarked on a nationwide tour.
Feeling 'Bout You

If your love will stand, if your love will fall
They will give you odds, they will quote you statistics
Oh, But thinkin' don't figure into love at all
Hey, I've got a feeling
I'm gonna love you my whole life through
Hey, I've gotta feeling, about you
First time I saw you, you were mixing cocktails
It was two for one or was it four for two
All I remember was watching you and thinking
That one of these days I wanna be waiting on you
Hey, I've got a feeling
I'm gonna love you my whole life through
Hey, I've gotta feeling, about you
Well, You looked up at me
Like you done heard it all before
From some lovin'. leavin', liar
Who don't come around no more
Well Honey, I'm not her and she's not me
And the sooner we get that straight
You know the happier we will be
Hey, I've got a feeling
I'm gonna love you my whole life through
Hey, I've gotta feeling, about you, about you
Look at us a few miles later
You can see our dent, you can see our rust
They say we're wearing out,
They say we ain't gonna make it
If they don't believe it they can, eat our dust
Hey, I've got a feeling
I'm gonna love you my whole life through
Hey, I've gotta feeling, about you,
About you, about you, baby
Hey, I've got a feeling
I'm gonna love you my whole life through
Hey, I've gotta feeling, about you, baby...
The lyrics of Suzy Bogguss's song "Feelin' 'Bout You" convey the idea that love is not something that can be predicted or measured. In the first verse, she challenges the notion that one can predict the success or failure of a relationship based on statistics, arguing that "thinkin' don't figure into love at all." She then declares that she has a feeling that she will love the person she is speaking to for her entire life.
Later in the song, Bogguss describes the moment she first saw the person, as they were mixing cocktails. She watched them and knew that she wanted to be with them. The person seemed to be hesitant, perhaps because of past heartbreak, but Bogguss assures them that she is not like their previous lover and that they would be happier if they understood that. The song ends with Bogguss saying that while others might think their relationship is doomed to fail, she knows that her feeling about the person will keep them together.
At its core, "Feelin' 'Bout You" is a song about the uncertainty and unpredictability of love. Bogguss suggests that while data and statistics may be useful in many areas of life, they are not the determining factors in matters of the heart. Instead, she believes that it is possible to have a feeling about someone that can sustain a lifetime of love.
