Crush
Swamp Thing Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm done
Never been better living
Numb
Murder
Murderer
I could
Walk all day with your blood on my
And live with it
No way
Not me
You made me do this
You
Made me see this is the only
Way
For me to be free
Try and
Crush me again
The lyrics of Swamp Thing's song "Crush" seem to be about someone who has been through a difficult experience with another person or a group of people who has caused them emotional pain. The singer of the song declares that they are "done" and "never been better living numb." This suggests that they have shut off their emotions as a coping mechanism to deal with the pain caused by the person or people who crushed them.
The singer then mentions murder and being a murderer, however, this could be taken metaphorically rather than literally. They could be saying that the person or people who crushed them emotionally have figuratively killed something inside of them, perhaps their ability to trust or love. The line "I could walk all day with your blood on my hands and live with it" suggests that the singer has resentment and perhaps even desires revenge against the person or people who hurt them.
The final lines of the song are a challenge to the person or people who hurt the singer, stating "Try and crush me again." This shows that the singer has a newfound strength and is no longer willing to be a victim.
