With his aunt Chivon Dean, and uncles Dee, and Waah Dean involved with the Ruff Ryders label, he began to produce tracks at the age of 16. He sold his first beat at 17 which became DMX's hit single Ruff Ryders Anthem. He started working with Ruff Ryders, Roc-A-Fella Records, Elektra Records, Epic Records, Def Jam Recordings, and Bad Boy Entertainment and his career blew up from there. But it wasn't until his first solo album, 2002's Presents G.H.E.T.T.O. Stories, that he started to get notices for his production style and interesting ideas. He released two singles "Guilty" and "Bigger Business" and both had music videos.[
Swizz Beatz has his own record label called Full Surface which was helped developed by Cassidy and is currently working on albums by Cassidy, Jay-Z, 2 Much, 50 Cent, Drag-On, Papoose, Busta Rhymes, Ruff Ryders, Michael Jackson, Eve, T.I., Lil Wayne, Bow Wow, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Eminem, Lil Jon and Ludacris. He is also set to be recording the new album for his close friend DMX which is confirmed to be titled Walk with Me Now and You'll Fly with Me Later. It was also confirmed he will be working with Jennifer Lopez for the first time on her new album.
Swizz Beatz released his first proper solo album titled One Man Band Man on August 21, 2007, selling 45,000 records in its first week of release including songs such as "It's Me Bitches", "Money in the Bank".
On October 19, 2007, as an extension to his first solo project, Swizz Beatz launched a contest called Music Video 2.0 and The Source Magazine Presents "Share the Studio." The contest and allows unsigned/indie music artists the opportunity to compete on the Music Video 2.0 website for the chance to open for Swizz Beatz at a NYC event.
Swizz Beatz also did an interview with MTV about his next album stating he just leaked a record called "Hard Knocks" with Drag-On. It's the first offering from Beatz's upcoming follow-up to One Man Band Man.
β Everybody is expecting 'It's Me Bitches' or 'Money in the Bank', I just want to use my opportunity to get a little more serious in the artist department, as a performer and lyricist. Not giving a f--- about radio and all that. I just want to give hip-hop something that's not on the radio. A lot of the songs I got can blend in on the radio, but 'School of Hard Knocks' don't blend in with nothing on the radio. I'm already in full mode. What they want me to do? Let's get it. I'm busting shots early β bong, bong!
The title is between Life After the Party and Remember Hip-Hop," he continued. "I'm in between them. I don't even have a date on my joint. I'm just feeling out the scene.

Oh, y'all thought you wasn't gonna get that
Kendrick and that Lox Smoke, huh? (Yeah)
Y'all thought you wasn't gonna get that
Lox and Kendrick smoke?
That Syles P, that Jada, that Kendrick (Kendrick)
Oh, y'all think it's games being played around here, huh?
Well, they not (woo)
The damage that we do is severe (oh)
The reinvention of the fresh
Brand new every year
Them bullets hit him in his blood and flesh flew in the air
We put that work on commercial
We flew in the Lear
I lift the bar and the weights
Then I'm doin' the stairs
They say the Lord only knows what I do to my peers
Tryna smoke, sell juice and pursue my career (c'mon)
So I keep a tight circle, I don't move with the squares
Rock a rugby like Puba, put two in the air
If you ain't qualified to kill
You should move to the rear
I'm from Yonkers, had to learn to conquer my fears
In the foreign, had to learn to conquer the gears
It's the kick drum
Yeah, it's attached to the snare
I turn the gat to the back
Then I'm crackin' veneers
You niggas stagnated, on the block, trappin' for wears (woo)
I'm in a mansion upstate, out back with the deers
(Talk to 'em, Kendrick)
Nigga, nigga
Everybody, back up (back up, back up, back up)
Man down (man down, man down, man down)
Back the fuck up
Don't play with me, I'll do you somethin' dirty
You talk to me crazy, I'll do you somethin' dirty
How I feel lately
I'll do you somethin' dirty (I'll do you somethin' dirty)
I'll wake up the neighbors, comin' through bright and early, whoa
(That's where it's at) oh
Cartel ties and dope bars (ay)
Life is a movie and death is the co-star
Mechanics to the game
Band of trail, foreigns in the lane
If they heard that the driver is gettin' coke off
We be in the part of the party that get roped off
Mingle with the plug or the judge and knock 'em both off
Questions that we askin' ourselves, havin' a smoke-off (say what, say what)
Spendin' money that's unaccounted for
If you scared to party with gangstas what you around us for?
We do what we want, my nigga, we get around the law
Yeah, it's bubble whips and square links
Lox get respect, nigga, 'cause fear stinks
A chair at the table, it's the commission, a rare thing
The beat come on, it's us, nigga, you hear the kings
We still smell money in here, Frank
Rap's like the dice game, nigga, we 'bout the clear bank (let's go)
Everybody, back up (back up, back up, back up)
Man down (man down, man down, man down)
Back the fuck up
Don't play with me, I'll do you somethin' dirty
You talk to me crazy, I'll do you somethin' dirty
How I feel lately
I'll do you somethin' dirty (I'll do you somethin' dirty)
I'll wake up the neighbors, comin' through bright and early, woah
This is a LOX, Swizz product
If it's ice up in Heaven, we know Pic got us
It's love up there, we know Pic got us
Lox, my nigga, you don't know shit 'bout us
Double R, my nigga, you don't know shit 'bout us
D-block, my nigga, you don't know shit 'bout us
Ask Swizz, he'll tell you we keep a clique 'bout us
Goddammit
The lyrics to "Something Dirty/Pic Got Us" by Swizz Beatz, Styles P, Jadakiss, and Kendrick Lamar are centered around their experiences in the music industry, their tough upbringings, and their willingness to do whatever it takes to succeed. Swizz Beatz establishes the tone with his opening line, "The damage that we do is severe," signaling that listeners are in for a gritty and impactful ride. Throughout the song, the artists boast about their accomplishments and their ability to take down anyone who crosses them. They use violent, graphic language to drive home the point that they are not to be messed with. "Don't play with me, I'll do you somethin' dirty," Styles P warns.
The song is also self-referential, with the artists name-dropping themselves and their associated groups frequently. There are references to Yonkers (where Styles P is from), Double R (Jadakiss's clothing line and record label), and D-Block (Styles P and Jadakiss's rap collective). Kendrick Lamar closes out the song with a tribute to a friend of his who passed away, with the line "If it's ice up in Heaven, we know Pic got us." The song ends with the ominous exclamation, "Goddammit," leaving listeners with a sense of unease.
The imagery in "Something Dirty/Pic Got Us" is intense and visceral. The artists describe the feeling of bullets hitting flesh, and flying debris from a scene of violence. They juxtapose this with references to luxury lifestyles, like flying in private jets and living in mansions. There is a sense of aggression and ambition that permeates the song, and the artists seem to be pushing back against anyone who doubts them.
