R.I.P.
T.H.U.G Lyrics

With a song in your heart, you might find
The end of the rainbow
With a sun in your heart, you might shine
With a sun in your heart, you might shine
Ooh, end of the rainbow
Ooh, end of the rainbow

He was red and orange and yellow
And green and blue and indigo and violet
But not violent (not violent)
Roy G Biv, a gentlemen's gentleman
You never seen one so wide
What a source of pride

But now I find even rainbows must die
Yeah, the ones arching over the sky
Even they must say goodbye
Can you tell me what's "to die?"

Ooh, end of the rainbow
Ooh, end of the rainbow
With a sun in your heart, you might shine
With a sun in your heart, you might shine

And now, I find even rainbows must die
Yeah, the ones arching over the sky
Tell me I must say goodbye
And that there's nothing to find
So show each color you have now
Go ahead, pretend everywhere is your stage
You know we share a common fate?
Here comes the fade
Here comes the fade
Here comes the fade
Here comes the fade

With a song in your heart, you might find
The end of the rainbow
(He was red and orange and yellow and green and blue and indigo and violet)
With a song in your heart, you might find
The end of the rainbow
(He was red and orange and yellow and green and blue and indigo and violet)
With a song in your heart, you might find (song in your heart, you might)
The end of the rainbow
(He was red and orange and yellow and green and blue and indigo and violet)
With a song in your heart, you might find (song in your heart, you might)
The end of the rainbow
(He was red and orange and yellow and green and blue and indigo and violet)
With a song in your heart, you might find (song in your heart, you might)
The end of the rainbow
(He was red and orange and yellow and green and blue and indigo and violet)
With a song in your heart, you might find (song in your heart, you might)

The end of the rainbow
(He was red and orange and yellow and green and blue and indigo and violet)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of T.H.U.G's song R.I.P. express the pain of losing loved ones, especially the death of a friend who was like a brother to him. The song has two verses that recall memories of two different friends, both of whom died too soon. In the first verse, T.H.U.G remembers his friend BG who was always there for him, and they did everything together, from hanging out with hoes to snorting dope. The verse ends with T.H.U.G's heartbroken lament of his friend's passing, and his promise to always love him and remember him.

The second verse describes the day T.H.U.G's friend Whodi died in a shooting. They had talked about getting sober just the day before, and T.H.U.G was shocked by how quickly Whodi's "whodi life was over." Even though T.H.U.G tries to understand that there's a reason the "good Lord chose" his friend, he still wishes every day that he was here to see his success as a rapper. The song's chorus repeats the phrase "Rest in Peace" and speaks of being "solo" in a world without the ones who have gone on. In the outro, T.H.U.G ends with a message to all of his friends who have "left the UPT" (presumably the Uptown area of New Orleans) and a reminder that they will always be on his mind and in his heart.
