As of October 2008, T.I. has had nine Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 singles, with 3 of them reaching number 1 ("My Love" by Justin Timberlake on which T.I. was featured, "Whatever You Like," & "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna).

T.I. is from Bankhead, Atlanta, Georgia and was raised by his grandparents. T.I. explained the origin of his nickname Rubber Band Man, saying, "We used to wear rubber bands to signify how much money, how much blow we had." He was nicknamed "Tip" after his paternal great-grandfather. Upon signing with Arista Records subsidiary LaFace Records in 2001, he shortened his name to T.I. out of respect for label mate Q-Tip.

I will never be like them
I don’t like this groupie shit
Y’all been pushing around
I don’t want to be like you
Never be like them
Everybody wants to take
Nobody here
Unreliable on everything
Plus themselves
All day dreaming but never work
I’m unimpressed
By these Niggas fallouts, fallacies
They sound like the rest
Look the same
Like some clone ass and shit
Almost confused my brain
But like King Kong
I’mma Crush Y’all
As I hit my chest
Punching and giving these knockouts
Mohamed Ali
Clear the way
The Champ is here
No time for Melancholy
They test me
They try
To oppress me
Want to make me lose the vision
Send me down to deal with all the pressure
They jest me
They try
To suppress me
But my mission is way more bigger
Than they can understand or phantom
They pest me
They Try
To Distress me
But my focus is louder
Than all of the noises
And fucking tantrum
Detest me
But you can’t deny it
The boy is blessed
Endowed
Graceful
And still handsome
The fuck you want from me?
I’ve been seating on corner shelf
Watching all Y’all play yourself
As I study how the greats
Build and create by themselves
What you all don’t seem to get
It’s that
We’ve come here now to stay
Grow and build this by ourselves
If that is what it will take
Find who you are
Discover your tribe
Life is not a bed of roses
So I’m Working for it
You only live ones
No return ticket
Now please go get it
Whatever it is you are looking for
Please go search for it
And when you get it
I hope it gives you
The understanding
Of being careful
Of what you wish for
Cause you might find it
And it becomes something
That is destructive
Something toxic
We praying for better days
Still hoping that we all make it
I’m not here for your opinion
Or your competition
I’ve seen a lot
To understand
That there is no magic pill
To discover the very potential
That lies within
You just have to go for it
That’s all it takes
Just step on it
I’ve been coming from them trench town
I’ve been coming straight down
From them potholes
I’m here to tell my story
Tryna
Put these words together
Lay it up
Like Stephen Curry
Hoping that
It brings some glory
Happiness
And testimonies
And of cause
We need this money
Change our
Investment portfolio
Give these future kids
Some family trust funds
And build our own territory
Cause these are necessities
My guy
Let’s go for it
The lyrics to T.I.'s song "Get It" convey a message of self-reliance and determination to overcome the limitations present in society that many fall victim to. He expresses that he doesn't want to be like anyone else, that there is too much groupthink and a mentality of taking rather than giving. He talks about the importance of hard work and self-belief, as opposed to aimless dreaming, telling us that he is unimpressed by those whose actions don't match their aspirations. He is determined to leave his mark on the world and refers to himself as a champion, confident in his ability to overcome obstacles and succeed.

I’m tired of being broke, or even when I have money feeling like it’s not enough. Having no money feels like a disease and creates all sorts of discomfort in your life and I’m tired of that. 2021 is the year I turn my life around and go after my dreams.
