''Aufregend und einfach unerhört gut''-- Jury, Bremer Jazzpreis 2012
''..charismatischen Ausnahmemusiker'' -- GEA.de
To try and classify 'Bremerjazzpreis 2012' nominee Singer-Songwriter/Keyboardist/Composer-Producer T.L. Mazumdar is missing the whole point.
A life spent growing up in North Africa, UK, India and Germany. A head thinking in four different languages. And a musical background spent with musicians who would never share a stage together.
In the past decade he has toured international Jazz-Fesivals in Asia and Europe, played for 14 million viewers on National TV with Grammy Winner Nelly Furtado, had a working band with LA Be-bop trumpeter Gary Barone (Frank Zappa/Buddy Rich etc.), toured with master Tabalchi Tanmoy Bose (Ravi Shankar/Anouschka Shankar), California Jazz-Rock Guitarist Willie O Teri, composed a Film-Soundtrack for critically acclaimed German Independent film, co-produced and performed a theater soundtrack for the FIFA Cup 2006 among others. He is mentioned in India's first official Anthology of Indian Electronic Artists (HUB-Indian ELectronica Yearbook Project) and has been referred to as the only Germany-based representative of Indian Electronic music.
And most of this while graduating degrees in Jazz Piano Performance and Production/Songwriting/Music Business simultaneously and maintaining an active and down-to-earth working-musicians lifestyle between Europe and India.
T.L.'s Debut Album '4 Walls V2' was released in 2010. A completely DIY effort written and produced alone in a bed-room studio with T.L. on all instruments except Drums.
'' I've always searched for common thread among seemingly different worlds. I've been called Jazz-pianist, Singer-Songwriter, Elektro-Head, Producer, Experimental-World-Music musician and many other 'boxes'. But all I'm really trying to do when I write my music is to get two odd companions to meet. The dreamer who wants to sing for people with a battered guitar and the nerd who'll always be a student of music. And both are me.''
T.L. is currently working on his sophomore album and Touring/Recording in Europe and India.
Someone
T.L. Mazumdar Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hearing guitars like someone in love.
Sometimes the things I do astound me,
Mostly whenever you're around me.
Lately I seem to walk as though I had wings,
Bump into things like someone in love.
Each time I look at you,
I'm limp as a glove,
The above lyrics are from the song Someone in Love by T.L. Mazumdar. The song talks about the feeling of falling in love with someone and how it can lead to feeling things that are out of the ordinary. The singer of the song expresses how they find themselves gazing at stars and hearing guitars, which signifies the feeling of being lost in their own world when they are in love.
The lyrics also talk about how being around the person they love can astound them, which points to the idea that love can make you do things that are out of character. The singer also mentions how they seem to be walking around as though they have wings, which suggests a feeling of lightness and being carefree. However, this can lead to them bumping into things, which shows how love can make you feel a little bit out of control.
In the last few lines, the singer expresses how every time they look at the person they love, they feel limp like a glove, which shows how they are powerless in the presence of this person. The lyrics end with the singer feeling like someone in love, which sums up the entire concept of the song.
