Intuition
T.N.T. Lyrics

A silent storm in every spirit
Locked behind a lonely dream still aware
When soldiers of fortune take your mind
The heart is your kingdom
Like magic when you find
Intuition
Hold your heartbeat in your hand
Intuition, one decision
Let your dream command
One answer
The destiny of every moment
Lost inside a hungry voice in the dark
No evil illusions
No empty prayer
The heart is your kingdom
So follow if you dare
Intuition
One decision
Hold your heartbeat in your hand
Intuition, one decision
Hold your heartbeat in your hand
When soldiers of fortune take your mind
The heart is your kingdom
Like magic when you find
Intuition
One decision
Hold your heartbeat in your hand
Intuition, one decision
Let your dream command

90s teens actually had it best. Grew up on MTV, got "used" to dad's classic rock, and lived during the prime of music before it started fading out in the mid 2000's when we had bands like Nickleback and 3 Days Grace that were about as cliche as they come. Something had to change after a decade of 4/4 time rarely delivered in anything other than quarter notes. Motely was there early, Warrant finished off the decade before all the hair bands ceded to the new grunge sound. The only "hair" band to survive was Queensryche, who found a way to darken the 80's butt rock style and made it more musical and meaningful instead of just party party party. Bands that were gods, Poison, Warrant, Motley, all gone because they couldn't evolve. Bon Jovi wouldn't evolve either, but he simply chose to be persistent even though his style was no longer wanted. I mean, if you back yourself with your own money you can do anything. They still played for their aged fan base, but the world had already moved on. Another band that got the memo was Pantera, who figured out my generation wanted something much heavier. Pantera were straight up glam when they started. Phil figured out how to dirty up the voice a bit and Texas metal was born.
Rock wasn't the only thing evolving. So was rap. Went from bare bones street rap to more sophisticated lyrics and music. Lots of Jazz infusion in the early 90s. So, when Public Enemy and Anthrax got together to do "Bring the Noiz!" they fathered rapcore. Limp Triscuit would go on to corner that market. In come the 7 string and drop D bands like Korn and Godsmack to finish off the 90's as well as an interesting start for the godfathers of Djent, Meshuggah, if you were the type that bought random music. Now we have a heavy sound that is common in modern rock of the time. But where would it go?
Cue in the 2000's whiny emo bands like Linkin Park and Incubus. You could tell music already jumped the shark. Now they wanted to inject weak singing in the middle of a brutal riff, or have weak singing with maybe a few shouts on the chorus and call that "*core". Bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Killswitch engage figured out they could rip off Iron Maiden riffs and just put some chugs under it and get famous. Metalcore was born.
Folks like Job for a Cowboy and I Declare War figured out there were a lot of folks that didn't like the weak singing tainting the riffs and so Deathcore was born. After Deathcore came Djent when Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes blew everyone's mind with their intricate, musical, but still heavy riffing that juggled crazy time signatures.
Not really sure what to make of the post-djent era. Rock or heavy music came to a peak where it was no longer a moving piece of music, just a demonstration of how fast you can play notes per second with no structure. Like play 3 strums, count to 5, play 2 strums, then 4 strums, count to 8, pay one strum, etc.... I think the last great band was Archspire.
Everything after that is just audio sausage. It doesn't matter anymore though. Now you can get famous by checking boxes in a program on a laptop and recite the ingredients on a box of Cheerios for lyrics. Check out Billie Eilish if you are into Lap Pop.

I wish to God to take me back to these times. All these wonderful songs that meant so much to us, and that trigger such wondeful memories. You just can't replace that! Today's music doesn't do that; it fades away on a blink of an eye. God! Please! I was there in the 80's; it was the most beautiful time of my life; I want to go back! And thank you TNT, Trixter, Bon Jovi, Warrant, Ratt, White Lion, Whitesnake, Maiden, Priest, Shark Island, Rough Cutt, Dokken, and many more artists for all of this.
