While I do agree that minimalism is heavily trending in an aesthetic-heavy manner, I still think the movement helps force people to focus on the utility, durability, and multi-purpose functionality of articles.

Beg to differ. It's not about buying more expensive things. It's about buying quality materials. If a need is in a cheap variety but has great quality, minimalism would encourage you to buy it than a more expensive, same quality one

@TheFourthWinchester Right now I'm wearing a sweater that I've own for over 10 years. The elastics are ripped off, same with the pocket. It kinda looks like the sweater rocky wears in rocky while training, I cant seem to bring myself to throw it out.

I'm not a minimalist but I own a lot less crap than most people. I tend to only own objects I use on a daily basis. I don't think that's minimalism; just being rational
