Strangers
Taemin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

'Cause you and I are strangers with memories
Strangers you forgot me got me 우리의 기억들이
Strangers you forgot me got me 너와 내 이 순간이
Strangers you forgot me got me 스쳐가 이젠 멀리
You and I are strangers with memories

'Cause you and I are strangers with memories

Strangers you forgot me got me 우리의 기억들이
Strangers you forgot me got me 너와 내 이 순간이
Strangers you forgot me got me 스쳐가 이젠 멀리
You and I are strangers with memories

'Cause you and I are strangers with memories

Strangers you forgot me got me 알잖아 지금 우린
Strangers you forgot me got me 스쳐가 서로 멀리

Strangers you forgot me got me 희미해질 때까지
You and I are strangers with memories

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Taemin's song "Strangers" depict a fleeting encounter between two individuals in a bustling city. The singer reflects on this unexpected meeting, questioning whether it was a mere coincidence or something fated. The singer acknowledges that their connection is now insignificant, as they both have moved on from whatever memories they once shared. They pass each other by, pretending not to recognize one another, acknowledging that they are now strangers with only memories to tie them together.

The song portrays a sense of longing and acceptance of the transient nature of relationships. It explores the idea that even the most intimate connections can fade into distant memories. The lyrics also highlight the paradoxical nature of human relationships, where two individuals can once share significant moments but ultimately become strangers again.

Overall, "Strangers" captures the bittersweet nostalgia of a past connection that has become distant, emphasizing the transient nature of relationships and the acceptance of moving on.

Theres something so strangely haunting yet so relatable to this song! I feel like it just perfectly encapsulates the human experience of just existing and how we drift to and from people and how its not necessarily intended or a painful separation but that that somehow makes it even more painful in how unnoticed that person you shared all those memories with just slipped away and the gulf that has now appeared between you is often too big to cross despite how much of one another you still keep in the memories. Ugh idk I'm rambling I just think this is a very relatable and human song and it really hits home.

Honestly this song hit on a deeper level then most music like this can. This is the type of topic you find in folk music or old ballads. Honestly it almost feels like he's singing about knowing someone from a distant past or his old self and recalling that he forgot himself or that other. Theres a quote i adore that goes, " Some of our memories are fragmented in time lost to be forgotten to the times/void. This is what i got from listening to this song and it hits on such a different note. I really love it like all his work. A true artist^^
