Rainfall
Taio Cruz Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I like to know what's going on,
In this world we're living on
So much poverty all around me,
This is sanity that surrounds me
Distant worlds seem so far away
You know
[chorus:]
I can hear the rainfall (rainfall)
I can hear the rainfall (rainfall)
Oooh (rainfall)I can hear the rainfall (rainfall)
(rainfall) I can hear the rainfall (rainfall)
I like to know when, You and I,
Will stop walking and Passing by,
So much ignorance then my eyes see
My Experience cannot blind me
Distance Worlds seem so far from here
Seasons change and the rain is near
Oh No
[chorus:]
I can hear the rainfall (Rainfall)
Oooh I can hear the rainfall (Rainfall)
(Rainfall) Can you? ! Cause I can hear the rainfall (rainfall)
(Rainfall) Can you? ! I can hear the rainfall (rainfall)
OOooooh Wooah Oooh, Yeeaaa, Nooooo... Yeeeaaaaa... Wooooooo
I Like to find that new reality,
Something more, than this fantasy
No More forced dreams,
No more mind games
I can even see, through this dark plain
Distant worlds seem so far away
People's lives changin everyday,
Oooh
[chorus:]
I can hear the rainfall (rainfall)
I can hear the rainfall (rainfall)
Yeeeaa (rainfall)I can hear the rainfall
(rainfall) I can hear the rainfall
Can You? ! Can You? ! Can You? !
Can You hear the rainfall
In Taio Cruz’s song Rainfall, the artist expresses the desire to be aware of what is happening in the world around him, particularly with regards to poverty. He notes that even though poverty surrounds him, he is still able to maintain his sanity. Cruz also speaks on the fact that the world seems to be getting smaller and more connected through technology, yet distance still exists between people and their experiences. Despite the changes and challenges that he observes, he hears the rainfall and is able to find comfort in this natural occurrence.
As the song progresses, Cruz expresses a longing for a deeper reality that is free from fantasy and notion of forced dreams or mind games. He explains that he can see through the darkness of his present reality and is searching for something more genuine. The chorus repeats the line “I can hear the rainfall” in order to emphasize the theme of natural comfort and the idea that despite the changes happening in the world and the complexity of life, there is still beauty in simple things like the rain.
Overall, the song seems to be about navigating the complexities of modern life while maintaining a connection to the natural world and seeking deeper meaning beyond the superficial.
