Glory To God
Talbot John Michael Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Glory to God in the highest and on earth
Peace to His people of goodwill
Glory to God in the highest and on earth
Peace to His people of goodwill
We praise You, we bless You
We adore You, we glorify You
We give You thanks for Your great glory
Glory to God in the highest and on earth
Peace to His people of goodwill
Lord God, heavenly King
Oh God, almighty Father
Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten son
Lord God, lamb of God, son of the Father

Glory to God in the highest and on earth
Peace to His people of goodwill
You take away the sins of the world
Have mercy on us
You take away the sins of the world
Receive our prayer, you are seated
At the right hand of the Father
Have mercy on us

Glory to God in the highest and on earth
Peace to His people of goodwill
For You are Lord of the Holy One
You are the Lord
You are Lord of the most high, Jesus Christ
With the Holy Spirit in the glory of God, the Father

Glory to God in the highest and on earth
Peace to His people of goodwill
Glory to God in the highest and on earth

Peace to His people of goodwill
Amen, amen, amen

41 years ago John’s songs got me through some difficult times while in the Marines. Today is a reunion of sorts. Finding this music again after all these years. Let go, and let God.

Holy Khan

A pity these words could not be used licitly for a Mass. This is really one of the most beautiful, rousing modern Mass settings I know of.

I used to listen to this in the late '70's at St John's Seminary with my roommate Pat.

Kathy Jenkins

I first heard this at a DORM Party at the College of Steubenville, in Ohio in 1977. It's now Franciscan University. I was amazed at the worship!

I don't think God has a denomination.  I love John Michael Talbot's music and have been listening to it for years.

Truth Lives

Of all the songs of John Michael Talbot this is my favorite, and I am a Protestant.
These words have a special meaning from the Spirit to me.
If you are Roman Catholic and are just saying these words as part of the Liturgy and they are not life to you, you need to re-evaluate your Faith.
