The careless whisper of a good friend
To the heart in mind
Ignorance is kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find
I feel so unsure
As the music dies
Something in your eyes
Calls to mind a silver screen
And all it's sad goodbye
I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
I know it's easy to pretend
I know you're your not a fool
Should have known better than to cheat a friend
Waste a chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I dance with you, oh
Time can never mend
The careless whisper of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
But there's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find
I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
I know it's easy to pretend
I know you're your not a fool
Should have known better than to cheat a friend
Waste a chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I dance with you, oh
The way I dance with you
Ooh, tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it's better this way
We'd hurt each other with the things we want to say
We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But now who's gonna dance with me
Please stay
I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
I know it's easy to pretend
I know you're your not a fool
Should have known better than to cheat a friend (I should have known better)
Waste a chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I dance with you, oh
The way I danced with you
Now that you're gone
Now that you're gone
Why'd you have to leave me alone
I'm never gonna dance
That way again
With nobody else
I can only dance like that with you, huh
The song "Careless Whisper" by Tamia is a cover of the original song by George Michael. The lyrics tell the story of a person who has cheated on a friend and is dealing with the consequences of their actions. The first verse talks about how once trust is broken, it can never be fully recovered ("time can never mend the careless whisper of a good friend"). Ignorance may seem like a kind option, but ultimately the truth is painful. The second verse is more personal, as the singer reflects on a particular moment with the person they cheated with. The music dies and all that is left is sadness.
