According to the Taylor Dayne Songfacts Interview, Taylor grew up in Long Island, and her parents were very involved in independent theatre: the Manhattan Theatre Group, the Pap Theatre, La Mome. By 4 or 5 she was singing along with the radio. Her dad gave Taylor her first radio, she turned it on and there was Stevie Wonder playing. As Taylor grew older, she started going into a little bit more of a rock direction as the top 40 was going in a different path for a period of time - it was more of the supergroups, Jethro Tull, Yes etc. She had her first solo by first grade, and by her fourth grade she was singing Jacques Brel.
Dayne came to prominence in the late 1980s and remained at the top of the charts through the 1990s. She released her fifth album "Satisfied" in February 2008. "Beautiful" the first single hit number 1 in the American dance charts and #23 on the Adult Contemporary. The second single from "Satisfied" titled "My Heart Can't Change" reached #19 on the Adult Contemporary chart. In 2010, Dayne's single "Facing A Miracle" was released. In 2011, Dayne's single "Floor On Fire" became her 18th Top 10 hit when it peaked at #8 on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Dayne continues to record and tour.

Memories
Taylor Dayne Lyrics

As the world goes by
All the sadness
Lover we tried
It used to be
You held me near
I felt your touch
Now I'm holding back my tears
Well I look back
And I close my eyes
To the blame and heartache
That we left behind
Won't you take me
I'm falling
I can't stop from loving you
You were my world
And all that was real
Now the memories
Are all I have to live for
You made me feel
The joy and the pain
All the memories
I don't want to see fade away
Every day life
Is just the same
Looking in the mirror
Trying to put on a face
Of someone who's happy
Someone who's strong
But deep down inside me
I know I was wrong
'Cause you gave me more
Than you'll ever know
And I was such a fool to let you go
So you won't come back
I'm sorry
I'm standing here calling you
You were my world
And all that was real
Now the memories
Are all I have to live for
You made me feel
The joy and the pain
All the memories
I don't want to see fade away
If I could see you
Baby I'd hold on forever
'Cause time's made me realize
We need to be together
So won't you come back
I'm sorry
I'm standing here calling
Take me I'm falling
I can't stop from loving you
"Memories" is a song by American singer Taylor Dayne. The lyrics to this song are about a person who is looking back and reflecting on a past relationship. The person is filled with sadness as they think about the love they once shared with their partner. They recall how their partner used to hold them close and give them a sense of security, but now they're left with nothing but memories.
The lyrics speak to the heartbreak of lost love, and the longing to have that love again. The person is overwhelmed with regret and feels that they made a mistake by letting their partner go. They want the person back in their life, but they're not sure if it's too late.
The chorus repeats the theme of the song, with the person singing about how their memories of their past love are all they have left to live for. The lyrics are emotional and powerful and speak to anyone who has ever experienced the pain of a broken heart.
Overall, "Memories" is a touching and poignant song about love and loss. It's a powerful reminder of the importance of cherishing the people we love while we still have them.

I'm looking out
I am observing my surroundings
As the world goes by
As time passes
All the sadness
I am feeling sad
Lover we tried
Our relationship ended, even though we tried to make it work
It used to be
In the past
You held me near
You used to comfort me
I felt your touch
I used to feel close to you
Now I'm holding back my tears
Now I am trying not to cry
Well I look back
I am reflecting on the past
And I close my eyes
I am visualizing memories
To the blame and heartache
To the negative emotions and responsibility for the failure of the relationship
That we left behind
That we had in the past
Won't you take me
Can we reconcile?
I'm falling
I am losing control
I can't stop from loving you
I am still in love with you
You were my world
You were everything to me
And all that was real
Our relationship was genuine
Now the memories
All I have left are my recollections of us
Are all I have to live for
My memories give me comfort
You made me feel
The emotions you gave me
The joy and the pain
Both the positive and negative experiences
All the memories
All of our past experiences together
I don't want to see fade away
I do not want to forget them or lose them over time
Every day life
My daily routine
Is just the same
It has become monotonous
Looking in the mirror
Self-reflection
Trying to put on a face
Putting on a facade
Of someone who's happy
Of someone who appears content
Someone who's strong
Of someone who appears resilient
But deep down inside me
But in reality
I know I was wrong
I regret my past actions
'Cause you gave me more
Because you gave me greater amounts
Than you'll ever know
Than you can possibly comprehend
And I was such a fool to let you go
I made a mistake by ending our relationship
So you won't come back
It seems like you will not return
I'm sorry
I apologize
I'm standing here calling you
I am requesting your attention
If I could see you
If I could be in your presence
Baby I'd hold on forever
I would never let go
'Cause time's made me realize
The passage of time has shown me
We need to be together
We belong together
So won't you come back
Will you return to me?
Take me I'm falling
I am losing control and need your help
I can't stop from loving you
I am still in love with you
