Never Enough
Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders Lyrics

Keeps me blind to see
It's my time I've wasted
In my space for me to breathe
I give you everything, you know it's never enough
I give you everything, but it's never enough
I'm on my hands and knees, but it's never enough
Never enough
Take my place
Keep my thoughts inside
I won't say a word to you
Doesn't mean a thing to me
I give you everything, you know it's never enough
I give you everything, but it's never enough
I'm on my hands and knees, but it's never enough
I give you everything, you know it's never enough
Never enough
I give you everything, but it's never enough
I give you everything, you know it's never enough
I'm on my hands and knees, but it's never enough
I give you everything, but it's never enough
I give you everything, but it's never enough
I give you everything, but it's never enough
I'm on my hands and knees, but that isn't enough
I give you everything, but it's never enough
Never enough
The lyrics of Never Enough by Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders express a sense of frustration of the singer towards someone in their life. The lines "Got my head in my clouds/Keeps me blind to see" suggest the singer is distracted and perhaps not fully aware of what's going on around them. They express regret, saying "It's my time I've wasted/In my space for me to breathe." These lines suggest the singer is aware that they have let something important slip away while they were preoccupied with their own concerns.
The chorus repeats the same lines multiple times, emphasizing the idea that the singer has given everything they could, but it was never enough for the other person. The line "I'm on my hands and knees, but it's never enough" suggests a feeling of vulnerability and desperation. The final lines of the song, "I give you everything, but it's never enough/Never enough," leave the listener with a sense of unresolved tension.
Overall, Never Enough depicts a kind of one-sided relationship where the singer is putting in all the effort, but the other person is not reciprocating. The lyrics express a sense of frustration and disappointment at not being appreciated for what the singer brings to the relationship.
