Thompson's style is difficult to categorize, because his influences are varied. Growing up around folk music, he listened to a musical gamut that covered Hank Williams, Jimi Hendrix, Sam Cooke and gospel. As he fell in with other musical progeny, most notably close friend Rufus Wainwright, his sound developed into his own combination of country/western, rock, and his father's folk-rock.
Thompson played regular shows at Jon Brion's venue, Largo, in Los Angeles, while getting his first album contract together. He signed with Geffen who had big plans for him - but Geffen was soon after swallowed up by Virgin, who did not. In 2000 Thompson released his debut album, Teddy Thompson, which received much critical acclaim but little commercial success. He took a few years to tour and write before finally recording his second album on his own. While reviews for his first album were generally positive, the critics have gushed over his second album. Thompson has found his own sound and voice, although his family remains heavily involved in his music.
Thompson's fourth album, A Piece of What You Need was released in 2008. His fifth studio album, Bella, was released in 2011.

In my arms, in my arms
Got a simple space to feel free
In my arms, oh, in my arms
Keep it on the recent
Keep it on the now
Give me an easy way out
It's a lonely world that I got
In my arms, woo, in my arms
Got a lot of room to get lost
In my arms, oh, in my arms
Keep it on the recent
Keep it on the now
Give me an easy way to get out
Keep it on the recent
Keep it on the now
Give me an easy way out
Got an easy place to be
In my arms, oh, in my arms
Not much to feel from me
In my arms, oh, in my arms
In my arms
Teddy Thompson's song "In My Arms" is a gentle and comforting lullaby about finding solace in the embrace of a loved one. The song has a minimalist arrangement with a simple melody and sparse instrumentation creating a sense of intimacy between the singer and the listener. The lyrics describe the experience of finding peace and freedom in the arms of someone who understands your pain and loneliness. The repeated phrase "in my arms" creates a sense of security and safety, inviting the listener to let go of their troubles and surrender to the warmth of a loving embrace.
The verse "Keep it on the recent, Keep it on the now" highlights the importance of living in the present moment and focusing on the here and now instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. The song acknowledges the struggle of living in a lonely world but offers a glimmer of hope in the form of human connection.
Overall, "In My Arms" is a poignant reminder that no matter how alone we may feel, there is always someone willing to offer us comfort and support if we are willing to accept it.

Teddy Thompson is absolutely the best solo singer/guitarist I have ever had the privilege to meet. He is a great guitarist, gifted songwriter, and he has a fabulous voice.

Saw Teddy a few weeks ago at Infinity Hall Norfolk Ct. He was awesome, what talent, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. His parents Richard and Linda Thompson so great!
@leadme2thebliss21
Richard is a rock God, but he can still most likely go to the mall by himself and do some shopping and no one would probably notice him. It's actually pretty sad, Richard deserves more recognition.
@yardnazi
@@leadme2thebliss21 You are so right about Richard! What a great guitarist, singer, and songwriter composer!
