The group was known for its energetic live performances, characteristic rhythm section, rather minimalistic yet inventive arrangements, and openness to contact with fans. The group's first album Strelyali? (Стреляли?) was released in 1995 and their discography now includes 7 albums and 12 releases (including singles and other releases) overall.
Group members cited The Pixies and Sonic Youth, among others, as their influences.
In 2010 Tequilajazzz officially disbanded.
After reuniting a few times over the following decade without Oleg Baranov, Constantin Fedorov finalizes his decision to leave the band. The band adds guitarists Constantin Chalykh (Константин Чалых) and Roman Shatokhin (Роман Шатохин), continues playing shows and records their seventh album, NEBYLO (НЕБЫЛО) in 2018. The album is a collection of acoustic reimaginings of the band's previous work.
In Spring 2021, the band announces plans for a new record, slated for release in the following months.
