The fine country-pop album Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose was released the same year and includes two hits: the title song, previously a hit for Tony Orlando & Dawn, and the Stafford composition "Amarillo By Morning", ten years later a big hit for George Strait. The latter made it to #12 when the country channel searched for the 100 Greatest Country Songs in 2003. Stafford himself only had one other Top-40 hit in 1974 - "Captured" - then faded into obscurity.
He died in 1996 of liver problems just months after he was planning to return to recording. A few months before Stafford had talked with a label in Dallas about possibly releasing his music.

Oh, Judy oh, can′t you see?
I've been so blind and now I′m blue
And all I want is you yes, you
And all I want is you
I've playing every game there is to play
I've done everything to pass the day
But Judy that′s too hard to do
Oh, Judy please come back to me
Oh, Judy oh, can't you see?
I′ve been so blind and now I'm blue
And all I want is you yes, you
And all I want is you
Oh, Judy please come back to me
Oh, Judy oh, can′t you see?
I've been so blind and now I′m blue
And all I want is you yes, you
And all I want is you
I've playing every game there is to play
I've done everything to pass the day
I′ve tried to find someone like you
But Judy that′s too hard to do
Oh, Judy please come back to me
Oh, Judy oh, can't you see?
I′ve been so blind and now I'm blue
And all I want is you yes, you
And all I want is you.
The Terry Stafford song "Judy" is a heartfelt plea for a lost love to return. The lyrics convey the deep regret and longing of the singer, who pleads with Judy to come back. The first stanza highlights the singer's realization of his mistakes and his acknowledgement of his own foolishness in letting Judy go. He desperately begs her to return to him, and admits that he only wants her and nobody else.
The second stanza shows the singer's attempts at moving on from Judy by trying to replace her with someone else, but to no avail. He realizes that no one can replace her and that it's impossible to find someone like her. The repetition of the chorus intensifies the desperation of the situation and serves to emphasize his plea for Judy to come back.
Overall, the song is a classic example of a love ballad where the singer's heart has been broken and he wants his love back. The lyrics are emotive and powerful, conveying a deep sadness and an earnest desire to be reunited with the lost love.
