All the Time
The 7th Guest Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

He wakes up in the afternoon
And there's no reason to get out of bed
No reason to open his eyes

And a fairy appears to him then
"Wake up you lazy bum and go on a quest
You have nothing left to lose
So here is a dollar"

She said, "It's not much, but it's enough
For the trip to the end of the road
You've got to know
that it's all the time you have left"

So he took out his dollar
Deposited it into the vending machine
Spent the days away

And an angel appears to him then
"Grow up you lazy bum and go get a job
You have nothing left to lose
So here's a diploma"

He said, "It's not much, but it's enough
For the trip to the end of the road
You've got to know, that it's all the time you have left"

And even though he's got it all
He's got to live the rest.
Find your road and let it take you there
Anywhere and everywhere
'cause anywhere is better than this

You said, "It's not much, but it's enough

For the trip to the end of the road
You've got to know, it was all the time you had left."

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of The 7th Guest's song All The Time narrate the tale of a lazy guy who wastes his days sleeping and doing nothing. One day, a fairy appears to him and advises him to go on a quest with a dollar. Despite this, he spends his days doing nothing, but then an angel appears to him with a diploma and advises him to get a job. Nonetheless, the lazy guy still wastes his time. In the end, he realizes that he has nothing left to lose and accepts the reality that he must live his remaining days. As a result, the journey he takes doesn't matter so long as he finds his road and goes anywhere.

The song's message is about productivity and how it's important to make the most of time because wasted time can never be regained. The lazy guy in the song was given ample opportunities to turn his life around, but he was too comfortable being lazy. The fairy, angel and dollar symbolize the chances we receive to do something meaningful with our lives by taking risks and making decisions. The lazy guy only realizes too late that he has wasted his life, that he should have been working, and that he should have been making the most of his time.

Thanks for making this. The game doesn’t really give you direction for the story, it happens as you play so things usually happen out of order

I loved to spend so many hours playing this game... I was sure that the last puzzle was playing chest with that mad man... But no... That surprised me. So creepy game. Thanh you

The soup attacking the lady, the girl turning into a baby, and the dolls creeped me out so much as a kid.

4:30 Stauf didn’t start producing his toys in Wuhan, did he?

I wish they made the voices a bit louder.

Amy Damjanovic

The actor who does Stauf’s voice is obviously trying to sound like Vincent Price.

Is it possible to get the scene of Tad coming in thru the window on the PC or iOS version? I remember it from playing on the CDi but couldn't couldn't make it happen on other systems and friends who only played this on a PC had no idea where Tad came from because they also missed that scene. Is it like the meeting in the library and only available later in the game?

Andy Jake

This was recorded on the PC version. After you see the cutscene of the meeting in the library go to the kitchen and you will see the cutscene.

There are a couple of scenes here missing, there is a bathroom scene where the tarty one [ sadly the actress playing her died in 2007 ] is bathing and goes under the water and you can hear her scream from within the plughole, as if to tell you that she drowned in the bathtub [ the Knights Puzzle is on the floor ]and one in a science lab as well I think with the Magician [ the Infection puzzle didn't appear in the iOS version ]. Used to enjoy playing this game, despite its terrible acting and some of the puzzles being difficult for me [ Spiders, Knights and Bishops puzzles ]. Used to love it when Stauf got angry at the player for solving the puzzles. Wish they would remaster this for Playstation like a lot of old retro point and click games from the 90's have [ Full Throttle, Monkey Island [ non telltale ], Day of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango ], we also owned its sequel, The 11th Hour but didn't know how to play that.

The maze and the microscope puzzles were so difficult for me...
