Eye In The Sky
The Alan Parsons Symphonic Project Lyrics

Don't try turning tables instead
You've taken lots of Chances before
But I ain't gonna give anymore
Don't ask me
That's how it goes
Cause part of me knows what you're thinkin'
Don't let the fire rush to your head
I've heard the accusation before
And I ain't gonna take any more
Believe me
The sun in your Eyes
Made some of the lies worth believing
I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see any more
To know that
I can read your mind, I can read your mind
Don't leave false illusions behind
Don't Cry cause I ain't changing my mind
So find another fool like before
Cause I ain't gonna live anymore believing
Some of the lies while all of the Signs are deceiving
"Eye In The Sky" is a classic rock ballad by British progressive rock band The Alan Parsons Project, released in 1982. The song is known for its dreamy synth riff, hypnotic drumbeat, and Alan Parsons' ethereal vocals. At the core, the song is about the struggle for honesty and trust in a relationship.
The first verse seems to be a conversation between two people. One person is apologizing for something they have done, but the other person is telling them not to bother trying to make amends for their mistake. The second verse is about the person that did something wrong trying to explain their actions and make themselves heard. However, the other person is having none of it and refuses to give any more chances. The chorus tells us that the singer is like an all-seeing eye, watching over the other person and understanding their intentions and revealing their lies.
The song seems to be a lament from the point of view of someone who has been hurt before and is no longer willing to be duped by lies. This person has their eyes open, and the other person's dishonesty is clear for all to see. The song is a warning for people to be careful who they let into their lives and hearts, as not everyone is trustworthy. To some extent, it is a bleak portrait of a world where trust is hard to come by and people are scared to be vulnerable.

Alan Parsons was the sound engineer on The Beatles' Abbey Road and Let It Be and Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon... no wonder his own music is so timeless. Wow.
